There are 4 teams that stand out for me today. Lefty Liriano is going for the Bucs and he’s 14-2 in his last 16 as a favorite. Guess what? Reds can’t hit lefties… they’re 1-4 in their last 5 against southpaws. Tanaka is pitching for the Yanks and they are 7-1 in their last 8 against AL East teams. Baltimore is 1-7 in their last 8 road games. KC is going to stop the bleeding today, even though Volquez has a high ERA over his last 3 games. Royals are 6-1 in his last 7 as a home favorite. Cards have lost 2 in a row and don’t usually lose 3 in a row, plus Wacha is pitching. Over his last 3, Wacha has an ERA of 0.95 and a WHIP of 1.16. Scary!

Let’s keep it rolling today with the Padres at home against the Rockies. Rockies don’t like playing the Padres. They are 1-7 in their last 8 meetings and 5-16 for their last 21 meetings in San Diego. Ian Kennedy is on the hill for the Padres and he’s been sharp over his last 3 with a 1.83 ERA and a WHIP of 1.12. On the flip side for the Rockies, Kyle Kendrick has been awful over his last 3 games, with an ERA of 8.10 and a WHIP of 1.90. Padres like playing on Mondays with a 5-0 record over their last 5 Monday games. Padres should get this one.

Mad Bum and the Giants should get it done in Colorado today. San Francisco is 11-5 in Bumgardner’s last 16 starts vs. the Rockies and 23-6 in his last 29 as a favorite. Flande is pitching for the Rockies and the Rockies are 1-5 in his last 6 starts against the NL West. Fairchild is behind the dish and the Rockies are just 3-7 in their last 10 when he is umping.

Mets should have won last night but they’ll win today. They’re 7-1 in their last 8 road games and 11-1 and their last 12 against NL East teams. Diaz is behind home plate and road teams are 11-2 in his last 13. Mets should get this win.

Today I’m taking the Astros and the Mets. McHughs is going for the ‘Stros. He’s 1.77 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. Astros are 7-0 in McHughs’ last 7 home starts. DeGrom is on the mound for the Mets and he’s 6-0 in his last 6 road starts. Mets are 10-3 in their last 13 overall. Marlins on the other hand are 1-7 in their last 8 Friday games. They are also 0-7 in Koehler’s last 7 starts.

Brewers look to sweep the Pirates at home tonight but the Bucs have the lefty Liriano on the hill and he should have something to say about that. The Pirates are 14-3 in Liriano’s last 17 starts, 4-0 in his last 4 starts as a road favorite and they are 4-1 in their last 5 Thursday games. Jungmann’s on the hill for the Brewers and they are 0-4 in his last 4 starts as an underdog. The Brewers have not fared well in Thursday games, at just 4-10 in their last 14. Eddings is behind home plate and over the last 5, the Brewers are 1-4.
