The New York Yankees and the Milwaukee Brewers will play the middle game of their 3-game set tonight at American Family Field. In game 1, the Yankees were blanked 6-0 but the outcome tonight will be different. The Bombers are expected to give the nod to Cam Schlittler and he has been throwing flames. Schlittler is 5-1 with an ERA of only 1.52 and a 0.87 WHIP, and it gets better. Over his last 3 turns, he is 1-0 with a 0.45 ERA and a WHIP of 0.75, and that is not a typo. Enough said.

Friday MLB Pick
The 16-21 Toronto Blue Jays have lost four straight but get back on the rails tonight when they return home from a 7-game road trip to open a 3-game set with the 15-23 Los Angeles Angels. Toronto is 10-8 at Rogers Centre where they have won four of their last five. Tonight they are expected to send Dylan Cease to the mound and he has been getting the job done. Cease is 2-1 with a respectable 3.05 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. The 15-23 Angels are just 7-13 on the road and are expected to send the lefty Reid Detmers to the hill; Valdy and company should have success against the southpaw. Detmers is 1-2 with a 4.28 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, and over his last 3 he has struggled, going 0-1 with an elevated ERA of 5.19 and a 1.29 WHIP. The Jays are 6-1 in their last 7 meetings with the Halos and that dominance continues tonight.
TONIGHT’S PICK: TORONTO BLUE JAYS
Thursday MLB Pick
The Miami Marlins will look to avoid losing their fifth straight and being swept at home by the Baltimore Orioles when the two clubs wrap up their 3-game set tonight in South Florida. Miami is expected to turn to Max Meyer to right the ship and he is more than capable. Meyer is 2-0 with an ERA of only 2.68, a 1.03 WHIP, and the Marlins are 4-0 in his last 4 home starts. The Orioles are expected to counter with Cade Povich and this guy is hittable. He comes in at 1-1 with a 4.41 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, and was roughed up in his last outing against the Yankees allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks over 4 innings of work. The Marlins are due.
TONIGHT’S PICK: MIAMI MARLINS
Wednesday MLB Pick
The Arizona Diamondbacks blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates last night, 9-0, in game 1 of their 3-game set at Chase Field. Don’t expect a repeat of that tonight because Paul Skenes is slated on the hill for the Bucs. Skenes is arguably the best pitcher in the Majors. The Cy Young winner was a little shaky in his last outing but that is a rarity. Skenes is 4-2 with a 2.91 ERA and a WHIP of only 0.82. The D-backs are expected to send Michael Soroka to the hill. The Pirates, who are averaging 5 runs per game, should send him packing early. Soroka is 4-1 but his ERA is high, at 4.70, with a WHIP of 1.43 and over his last 3 starts he has a bloated ERA of 6.67 and a 1.67 WHIP. The Snakes are 0-4 in their last 4 games following a win and over their last 10 games they have mustered just 3 wins. It is never wise to go against Paul Skenes.
TONIGHT’S PICK: PITTSBURGH PIRATES
Tuesday MLB Pick
Since Donny Baseball took over as skipper for the Philadelphia Phillies, they have won 6 out of 7 and took 3 out of 4 from the Marlins in Miami over the weekend. Tonight they return home to Citizens Bank Park to open a 3-game set with the Athletics. In their last series, the Athletics lost 2 out of 3 from the visiting Cleveland Guardians and gave up an alarming 23 runs. Tonight they are expected to hand the ball to Louis Severino. He comes in at 2-2 with a 4.46 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. Severino can be erratic at times and if he is not in the zone the Phillies’ heavy hitters will make him pay. Philadelphia is expected to give the nod to southpaw Cristopher Sánchez who comes in at 2-2 with an excellent ERA of 2.90 and a 1.51 WHIP. The Phillies have won 3 straight at Citizens Bank Park and are playing some of their best baseball of the season, not to mention 1-9 they are by far the better squad on the field tonight.
TONIGHT’S PICK: PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
Monday MLB Pick
The San Diego Padres snapped their 4-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox yesterday at Petco Park. Tonight they will try to build off of that when they head north to open a 3-game set with the struggling San Francisco Giants. The 13-21 Giants are last in the NL West, have lost 6 straight, and are expected to turn to Trevor McDonald to right the ship, and he is not the answer. McDonald was just called up from the Giants AAA affiliate, the Sacramento River Cats, where he struggled, posting a 5.40 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP. The 20-13 Padres are just a half game back of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the top spot in the NL West and cannot afford to lose to the lowly Giants. San Diego is expected to turn to Randy Vásquez to throw strikes and he has been dealing. Vásquez is 3-0 with an ERA of 2.94 and a 1.16 WHIP. The Friars bats have been lethargic of late but should wake up tonight against McDonald.
TONIGHT’S PICK: SAN DIEGO PADRES
Sunday MLB Pick
The Tampa Bay Rays will go for a sweep of the San Francisco Giants when they wrap up their 3-game set this afternoon at the Trop. Over the first two games, the Rays have outscored the Giants 8-1. The Giants have now lost 5 straight, are a dismal 6-11 on the road, and dead last in the league in scoring, averaging just 3.2 runs per game. Today they are expected to face Steven Matz, who is 4-1 with a 4.31 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP. Tyler Mahle is expected on the bump for the Giants and the Rays (who are averaging 4.5 runs per game) should be able to put up some runs against the right-hander. Mahle is 1-4 with an elevated ERA of 5.87 and a 1.63 WHIP. Tampa is hot, winning 8 of their last 9. They are 10-4 at home and have won 6 straight in St. Pete, outscoring their opponent 30-7 over that span.
