The Buffalo Sabres will try to feed off of Saturday’s victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins, when they host the Calgary Flames tonight at KeyBank Center. The Flames are playing back-to-back games, and are 3-9 in their last 12 games on zero day’s rest, and just 1-10 in their last 11 in Western New York. Brian Elliott is expected between the pipes tonight for Calgary and he is 3-8-0 on the season with a 3.36 GAA and a .882 SV%. Buffalo is expected to have Robin Lehner in goal tonight. Lehner has a record of 4-7-2, with a 2.53 GAA and a .919 SV%. Home teams are 18-3-1 in the last 22 meetings between these two clubs. The numbers favor the Sabres here.

Sunday CFL Pick

The Edmonton Eskimos travel to Ottawa today to take on the Redblacks and the winner will advance to the Grey Cup next Sunday. I like Edmonton’s chances today – they’re 6-4 on the road this year, averaging 29.1 points per game and allowing 25.8 on foreign turf. If you flip it over, Ottawa is 2-6-1 at home, averaging 25.1 points per game and giving up 28.6. The Redblacks are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 home games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The line is Eskimos -2, and the money line is -130. Skip the points, take them money line.

Saturday NHL Pick

Two of the original six will face each other tonight when the Montréal Canadiens return home to Bell Centre to host the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Canadiens are on a rare 3-game slide, losing to Chicago, Florida, and Carolina in a close one last night. Of their 3 losses, Montréal’s All-Star goalie Carey Price was between the pipes just once, in a 4-3 overtime loss to Florida on Tuesday. Price is confirmed in goal tonight and he is having a spectacular year, posting a record 10-0-1, a 1.63 GAA and a .948 SV%. Toronto is expected to have the ex-Anaheim Duck in net, Frederik Andersen, and he is 8-4-3, with a 3.16 GAA and a .907 SV%. The Leafs have struggled against the Canadiens, going 3-14 in the last 17 meetings and they are 0-7 in their last 7 at Bell Centre. This is not the Leaf team of old, but Montréal should get back on track tonight.

Friday NBA Pick

The Toronto Raptors are on a 2-game skid but a trip to Denver tonight should get them back on track. Toronto is 7-4 on the season, 3-1 on the road and when away from Air Canada Centre, they are averaging 113.8 points per game and giving up 109.2. Denver comes in tonight’s contest with a record of 4-7 on the season, 1-3 at home, and are averaging 107.2 points per game at Pepsi Center and allowing 112.5. The Raptors are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games. Toronto is laying 3.5 with a money line of only -160. The hook always burns you, so I’m rolling with Toronto and the money line.

Thursday NHL Pick

The red hot New Jersey Devils will take their 5-game winning streak to Southern California tonight to face Ryan Getzlaf and the Anaheim Ducks. The Devils are 3-3-2-0 on the road this season and will be without their top scorer, Taylor Hall, who is sidelined for 3-4 weeks with a torn meniscus. Anaheim, who is 5-2-0-0 at home, opened a 5-game home stand on Tuesday with a decisive 4-1 victory over Edmonton. The Devils edged the Ducks 2-1 on October 18th but are 1-5 in their last 6 meetings with Anaheim and 2-7-1 in their last 10 at Honda Center. I like the Ducks chances tonight.

Wednesday NCAA Men’s Basketball Pick

The 0-1 Illinois State Redbirds will have their home opener tonight when they host the 1-1 IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons in Normal, Illinois. In the Mastodons’ first two contests, they averaged 100 points and allowed an average of 76. In the Redbirds’ road loss to Murray State, they put up 70 points and gave up 73. The Mastodons are 37-15-2 ATS in their last 54 road games and like playing on Wednesdays, covering 10 of their last 12 games. I like the ‘Dons in this one, +6.5

Tuesday NCAA Men’s Basketball Pick

The 1-0 Fairfield Stags will try to make it 2-0 when they travel to New Hampshire tonight to take on the 0-1 Dartmouth Big Green. In their win over Sacred Heart on Friday, the Stags scored 85 points, allowed 63 and are ranked 27th in offensive field goal percentage. On the flip side, the Big Green scored 61 points in their loss to the Rhode Island Rams, gave up 84 and are ranked 287th in offensive field goal percentage. Fairfield has the edge in points per game, field goals, defense, rebounds and turnovers. These two teams met once last year in a Fairfield 97-85 victory. I’m taking the road favorite, Stags -2.
