Friday NCAA Men’s Basketball Pick

The Richmond Spiders should be able to knock off the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles in an early one today, even though it is being played in Tulsa. The Spiders have the edge in every category except for free throws and bench, and on the road they’re averaging 71.5 and allowing 64.0 points per game. At home, the Golden Eagles are averaging 64.0 and holding teams to 63.5 points per game. The Spiders are ranked 131st in offensive field goal percentage as opposed to the Golden Eagles who are ranked 288th. I’ll take the road favorite here and lay the 2.

Thursday NHL Pick

I like the Buffalo Sabres chances for a victory tonight at home over the Carolina Hurricanes. The Sabres have dropped two in a row but both have been by shootouts and one of those was to the Hurricanes on Saturday, 2-1. Carolina has struggled against Buffalo, going 1-4 in the last 5 meetings and they are 0-4 in their last 4 in Western New York. In the last 10 meetings between these two clubs, the Sabres have the upper hand with a 6-3-1 record. Eichel and company get revenge tonight for Saturday’s S/O loss.

Wednesday NBA Pick

The Portland Trail Blazers, who have lost 3 straight and 7 out of their last 8, should get back on track tonight when they host the lowly Dallas Mavericks. Dallas is 7-21 on the season and an awful 1-13 on the road. On the flip side, Portland is 13-17 on the season and 8-4 at home. The Trail Blazers average 109.8 points per game and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games, as opposed to the Mavericks who are averaging 94.1 points per game and are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games. Dirk Nowitzki and Andrew Bogut are still out for Dallas. Portland was embarassed by DeMarcus Cousins’ 55 points and the Sacramento Kings last night. I see a bounce-back game for them tonight.

Two Virginia teams square off tonight when the Richmond Spiders travel to Harrisonburg, VA to take on the James Madison Dukes. The Dukes are 1-9 on the season and are 0-3 on their home court. James Madison is averaging 65.3 points per game at home and are surrendering an average of 81. The Spiders are 5-5 on the season and away from home they are averaging 68 points per game and allowing 73. Richmond has the edge in points per game, field goal percentage, defense and turnovers.

The Southern Illinois Salukis will travel to the Thomas and Mack Center tonight to take on the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels. At the Mack, the Rebels are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games, averaging 74.5 points per game and allowing 69.9. The Salukis are 1-3 on the road, averaging 65.5 points per game, giving up 76.0 and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 against the Mountain West. The numbers say the Rebels cover the 3.

The Oakland Raiders can get their first playoff berth in 14 years with a win today however they have to travel to San Diego to face their hated rivals, the Chargers. San Diego would love nothing more than to spoil Oakland’s day. The Bolts are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 against the AFC and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 against the AFC West. I’ll take the home dog here, San Diego Chargers, +3.

Saturday NCAA Men’s Basketball Pick

My play today is going to be the South Dakota State Jackrabbits at home over the Murray State Racers. The Jackrabbits are tough to beat at home, with a record of 4-1, and their defense is stellar, allowing just 69.3 points per game. The Racers are 0-5 on the road and are holding teams to a bloated 82.0 points per game. The line on this game has been bouncing and I don’t know where it’s going to end up so I’m taking South Dakota State, money line.
