The next blog will be posted on Thursday, January 11th. Good luck with your picks!
Month: January 2018
Monday NBA Pick
The Toronto Raptors are on a roll, winning four in a row, and will seek a fifth when they head to Brooklyn to take on the Nets. Toronto has dominated Brooklyn, winning the last 9 match-ups, and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 trips to Barclays Center. The Raptors last faced the Nets on December 15th, blowing them out, 120-87, at Air Canada Centre. Toronto has the edge in Points per Game, Field Goal %, Free Throw %, Defense and Turnovers. The Rap are hot, ride them ’til their not.
TONIGHT’S PICK: TORONTO RAPTORS -7
Sunday Men’s NCAA Basketball Pick
The Niagara Purple Eagles will be in Poughkeepsie, New York today to face the Marist Red Foxes. Niagara will be a road favorite, laying 3.5, and should cover the number. The Purple Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games, and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 trips to Poughkeepsie. The Red Foxes are not getting it done at home, with a record of 2-4, and are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall. Niagara has the edge in Points Per Game, Free Throws, Rebounding, Turnovers, and Bench. Lay the 3.5 and take the Purple Eagles.
TODAY’S PICK: NIAGARA PURPLE EAGLES -3.5
Saturday NHL Pick – UPDATE
The Boston Bruins will host the Carolina Hurricanes tonight and should be well rested after Thursday’s game with Florida was cancelled due to weather. Boston is tough at TD Garden, with a record of 13-5-3. The Bruins have been on a roll, going 16-3-2 in their last 21 games and are 4-0 in their last 4 home games. Carolina is 9-9-4 on the road and has been on a roll as well , winning 8 out of their last 11. These two teams match up well: 7 of the last 8 meetings ended in Overtime or a Shootout. The goalie match-up tonight is a good one. The Hurricanes are expected to have Cam Ward between the pipes. Ward is 11-2-2, with a GAA of 2.52, and a .915 SV%. Boston is expected to counter with Tuukka Rask. Rask is 14-8-3, with a GAA of 2.09, and a .925 SV%. Carolina is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings with the Bruins but are 2-5 in their last 7 trips to Boston. Over the years, for whatever reason, the Bruins play well on Saturdays, going 63-30 in their last 93 games. Boston prevails in what could be another nail biter.
TONIGHT’S PICK: BOSTON BRUINS
Update – Boston has just confirmed they will start Anton Khudobin instead of Tuukka Rask. This should not change the outcome because he is 8-2-3, with a 2.47 GAA and a .923 SV%.
Friday NBA Pick
The Los Angeles Lakers’ losing streak has now ballooned to 8 games but a visit from the Charlotte Hornets tonight should help their chances of getting back in the win column. Both team records are less than desirable, with the Lakers sitting at 11-26 and the Hornets at 14-23. The Lakers center Brook Lopez returned to action on Wednesday and they should have Lonzo Ball back in the lineup tonight after he missed 6 games with a shoulder injury. The Hornets road record is awful at 4-13 and they are 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings with the Lakers. These two teams met in Charlotte on December 9th, with the Lakers cruising to a 110-99 victory. Los Angeles will be getting 2.5 points tonight so the play here will be Lakers plus the points.
TONIGHT’S PICK: LOS ANGELES LAKERS +2.5
Thursday Men’s NCAA Basketball Pick
The IPFW Mastodons will be in Tulsa tonight to face the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles. The Mastodons, who are 11-6 on the season, can put up some numbers, averaging 83.9 points per game while holding teams to an average of 74.8. The Golden Eagles find themselves at 5-11 on the season, while averaging 70.5 points per game and holding teams to an average of 79.3. The Mastodons have had the upper hand between these two Summit rivals. IPFW has won the last 5 contests, gone 13-0 ATS in the last 13 meetings and are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 trips to Tulsa. The Mastodons will have the edge tonight in Points Per Game, Field Goal %, Free Throw %, Defense, and Bench. The game opened at a pick and is now IPFW -1. Will the number climb? Probably, but to where? A money line bet on the Mastodons is a good play here.
TONIGHT’S PICK: IPFW MASTODONS M/L
Wednesday Men’s NCAA Basketball Pick
A good play tonight looks like the Duquesne Dukes laying a point at home over the George Washington Colonials. The Dukes have lost the last 5 meetings with the Colonials so they would love nothing more than to snap that streak at home tonight, and this why they can do it. The Dukes are 9-2 at A.J. Palumbo Center, where they are averaging 75 points per game and allowing an average of 61.5. In tonight’s match-up, Duquesne has the edge in points per game, free throw %, defense, turnovers, rebounding, and bench. On the flip side, George Washington is winless on the road at 0-2, where they are averaging 60.5 points per game, allowing an average of 80.5, and are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 road games overall.
TONIGHT’S PICK: DUQUESNE DUKES -1
