The Saint Louis Cardinals put a beating on the Pittsburgh Pirates yesterday, 10-1, and expect more of the same today when they wrap up their 3-game set at PNC Park. The Washington Nationals’ Stephen Strasburg is having a sensational year and he will be tapping the rubber tonight when the Nats visit SunTrust Park to open a 4-game series with the Atlanta Braves. The Oakland Athletics dropped their last two games to the New York Yankees but return home tonight to open a 3-game set with the Los Angeles Angels. The Athletics get overshadowed by the Houston Astros but this team can go toe-to-toe with anybody. Mike Fiers will get the nod tonight for the A’s. Since he threw his no/no back in May, he is a perfect 11-0 with a 2.41 ERA, and that is something you can’t overlook. The Halos are expected to counter with Jaime Barría, who is 4-7 with a 6.10 ERA, and the Angels are 0-4 in his last 4 road starts.

The homer happy Minnesota Twins should light up the scoreboard today when they take on the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Jordan Zimmerman is expected to tap the rubber for Detroit and his numbers are not good. He is a dismal 1-9 on the season,with a bloated ERA of 6.24, and a 1.42 WHIP.
