Sunday MLB Pick

The New York Yankees were able to scratch out a win yesterday against arguably the best pitcher on the planet, Washington’s Max Scherzer. Today it will be easier for the Bombers to find the sweet spot when they face Joe Ross and wrap up their 3-game set with the Nationals at the Stadium. Ross is 2-2 with a 4.39 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and he will oppose Domingo Germán, who is better than his 2-2 record reflects. The Yankees have won 6 of their last 8, are 4-1 in their last 5 following a win, and are a scary 80-32 in their last 112 games as a home favorite.
TODAY’S PICK: NEW YORK YANKEES

Saturday MLB Pick

The Tampa Bay Rays lost a close one last night to the Oakland Athletics at the Coliseum, 2-1, but look for them to rebound today when they send the 6’8″ flamethrower, Tyler Glasnow, to the hill. Glasnow can throw 100+ at will and is 4-1, with a 2.06 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP. Oakland is expected to counter with Frankie Montas. He is 3-2 with an elevated ERA of 5.87 and the Athletics are 2-5 in their last 7 as a home dog.

Friday MLB Pick

The Los Angeles Angels parted ways with future HOF Albert Pujols yesterday and then went on to getting pounded at home by the Tampa Bay Rays, 8-3, which now brings their losing streak to 5. It won’t get any easier for the Halos tonight when the Los Angeles Dodgers come to town, who are hungry for a win after getting swept by the Cubs at Wrigley. The Angels will be facing southpaw Julio Urías who has been one of few bright spots for the Dodgers of late. Urías has been throwing flames, with a perfect 4-0 record, a 2.87 ERA and a WHIP of only 0.90. If Mookie Betts’ and Corey Seager’ bats are going to come alive, it should happen tonight against the Angels expected starter, Griffin Canning. Canning is 2-2 with an inflated ERA of 6.20 and a 1.33 WHIP. The Angels have struggled against left-handed starters, going 1-7 in their last 8, and have lost 6 in a row against the Champs.
TONIGHT’S PICK: LOS ANGELES DODGERS

Thursday MLB Pick

The Kansas City Royals will try to get back on track and avoid being swept at home by the Cleveland Indians in an early one today at Kaufmann Stadium. Mike Matheny will turn to the best he has, lefty Danny Duffy. Duffy has been delivering in 2021. He has a mark of 4-1, with a nasty ERA of only 0.60, a 0.97 WHIP, and shut down the Indians back on April 5th tossing a gem, allowing no runs, just 2 hits, in a Royals 3-0 win. Triston McKenzie is expected to get the nod for Cleveland and his numbers are not good. He is 0-1 with a 6.27 ERA, a 1.71 WHIP, and the Indians are 0-5 in his last 5 road starts. The Royals have had the lead in all 3 games of this 4-game set, only to end up blowing it. That won’t happen with Duffy on the hill.
TONIGHT’S PICK: KANSAS CITY ROYALS

Wednesday MLB Pick

The Los Angeles Dodgers find themselves in a familiar situation, on the brink of being swept in a series. Los Angeles lost both games of a doubleheader yesterday to Chicago and will wrap up their 3-game set with the Cubs tonight before heading back to So Cal for a 3-game series with the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim. The Dodgers are in a funk and all teams go through them during the season but there is one thing for sure, it won’t last. LA can score, that’s a given, averaging 4.9 runs per game, and should be able to get going tonight against Chicago’s expected starter, Albert Azoulay, who is 1-2 with a 4.71 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP. The Dodgers will send their ace, Walker Buehler, to the hill and good things happen when he gets the nod. Buehler is 1-0 with a 3.16 ERA, a WHIP of 0.96, and the Dodgers are 5-0 in his last 5 starts in Game 3 of a series, 5-0 in his last 5 road games against teams with a losing record, and 5-0 when he has 7 or more days rest.
TONIGHT’S PICK: LOS ANGELES DODGERS

Tuesday MLB Pick

The Boston Red Sox lost 3 of 4 over the weekend to the Texas Rangers but should turn things around tonight when they return home to Fenway to host the worst team in baseball, the Detroit Tigers. Detroit has lost 5 straight, 9 of their last 10, and are just 4-12 on the road. The Tigers are expected to turn to Michael Fulmer to throw strikes and he has pitched well, at 1-1, with a 3.86 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP, but when your offense is averaging under 3 runs per game, it’s tough to get a win. Boston will give the nod to Nick Pivetta and he has been dealing. Pivetta is 3-0 with a 2.81 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP, and was brilliant in his last outing against Jacob DeGrom and the Mets, pitching 5 scoreless innings resulting in a 1-0 Boston win. The Red Sox have won 5 straight against the Tigers and should notch another tonight.
TONIGHT’S PICK: BOSTON RED SOX

Monday MLB Pick

The Tampa Bay Rays got back in the win column yesterday by downing the Houston Astros, 5-4, at the Trop. Tonight they will take it on the arches to southern California to open a 4-game set with the Anaheim Angels. Tampa is 5-1 in their last 6 on the road and will have their ace toeing the rubber, Tyler Glasnow. If anyone can slow down Mike Trout, it’s this guy. Glasnow is 3-1 with an ERA of just 1.67, a nasty WHIP of 0.80, and has no problem hitting 100 miles an hour with his fastball. In his last outing against a really good Oakland team, Glasnow was throwing flames. He pitched 7 scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts and yielded just 5 hits in a Rays 2-0 victory. The Angels have Shohei Ohtani (1-0, 3.28 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) slated to get the start but that could be in question after he was dinged on his throwing arm yesterday against Seattle. If Glasnow is on, and he usually is, Tampa wins this game.
