Wednesday MLB Pick

The play tonight is the Oakland Athletics over the Texas Rangers and this is why. Chris Bassitt is on the hill for Oakland and he delivers.
TONIGHT’S PICK: OAKLAND ATHLETICS

Monday MLB Pick

The Chicago White Sox will host the Minnesota Twins tonight on the south side. Chicago has won 5 out of 6 meetings this year with Minnesota, outscoring them by a lopsided margin of 48 to 23. Tonight should be no different.
TONIGHT’S PICK: CHICAGO WHITE SOX

Sunday MLB Pick

The Boston Red Sox will go for a sweep of the New York Yankees today at Fenway but not so fast. The Yankees will have Gerrit Cole on the hill. Next to Jacob deGrom, Cole is the best in the majors. He is 8-3 with a 2.33 ERA and a nasty WHIP of 0.85. The Red Sox are expected to send lefty Eduardo Rodríguez to the rubber and the Yanks should get to this guy. Rodríguez is 5-4 with an elevated ERA of 6.07, a 1.46 WHIP, and New York can hit lefties. Boston has won 6 straight against New York but trends end.
TODAY’S PICK: NEW YORK YANKEES

Saturday MLB Pick

Once again, the Toronto Blue Jays bullpen blew it, falling to the Baltimore Orioles in extras, 6-5. Today will be a different story. Their ace, Hyun-jin Ryu, is expected to tap the rubber. Ryu is 6-4 with a 3.25 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, and he can go deep into games. The Orioles are expected to counter with Keegan Akin and the young guns for the Jays should light him up. Akin is 0-3 with a 6.42 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP. Toronto gets it done in Buffalo today.
TODAY’S PICK: TORONTO BLUE JAYS

Friday MLB Pick

The San Diego Padres are riding high after sweeping the Cincinnati Reds and then their archrival, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tonight they will open a 3-game set at Petco Park with the worst team in baseball, the Arizona Diamondbacks. The only way the Friars lose this game tonight is if they have a total meltdown and I don’t see that happening. The D-backs have been awful on the road, at 9-31, and now hold the record for the most consecutive road losses in MLB history, 23. On the flip side, the Friars are 28-14 at Petco and have won 4 of the last 5 meetings with Arizona in San Diego. Tonight’s expected pitching matchup is a lopsided one. San Diego will send Chris Paddack to the hill. He is 4-5 with a 3.53 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. Arizona is expected to counter with Corbin Martin. Martin is winless at 0-2 with a 8.62 ERA and a 2.04 WHIP. The Pads’ sluggers should light him up. If you don’t mind laying the heavy chalk, San Diego is worth consideration.
TONIGHT’S PICK: SAN DIEGO PADRES

Thursday MLB Pick

After a disappointing road trip where they went 1-5, the 36-38 St. Louis Cardinals will be glad to get back home to Busch Stadium tonight when they open a 4-game set with the 26-46 Pittsburgh Pirates. The Cardinals’ offense has been lethargic to say the least but if they are going to snap out of it it should be tonight. St. Louis has won all 5 meetings with Pittsburgh this year, outscoring them 35-15. The expected starters for tonight’s game have both been struggling. The Pirates’ Chad Kuhl is 1-4 with a 5.66 ERA, a 1.49 WHIP, and the Bucs are 0-5 in his last 5 starts against a team with a losing record. The Cardinals expected starter, Carlos Martínez, is 3-8 with a 6.62 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP, however in his last turn against the Pirates on May 2nd he delivered, tossing 8 scoreless innings, resulting in a 3-0 Cardinals win. St. Louis has dominated Pittsburgh in recent years, going 36-15 in their last 51 meetings, and that dominance should continue tonight.
TONIGHT’S PICK: ST. LOUIS CARDINALS
