The New England Patriots are a better team than their 2-4 record reflects. They went toe-to-toe last week with the Dallas Cowboys, losing in OT, 35-29, and took the Tampa Bay Bucs to the brink two weeks prior, losing a close one, 19-17. Today the Patriots will seek their first win of the season at Gillette Stadium and will have the 1-4 New York Jets coming to town. The Patriots already put a beating on the Jets earlier this year in Jersey, 25-6. They are 6-2 ATS in the the last 8 meetings and 4-1-1 ATS against the Jets at home.
TODAY’S PICK: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS -7
Month: October 2021
Saturday NHL Pick
The Calgary Flames finally broke the ice and got their first win of the season with a 3-0 shutout of the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday. Today they will play a matinée with the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena and had better bring their A-game if they want to make it two in a row. Washington has surged out of the gate and are clicking on every cylinder. They are 3-0-1 in their first 4 games with their only loss coming in OT to the Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning. The Caps have outscored their opponents 17-6 and Alex Ovechkin is hot, with 4 tallies. Calgary is 0-4 in the last 4 meetings with Washington and 4-9-1 in their last 14 at Capital One Arena.
TODAY’S PICK: WASHINGTON CAPITALS
Friday NHL Pick
The 3-0 Buffalo Sabres are off to their best start in 13 years and will find out tonight if they are for real when they host the Boston Bruins. Boston is coming off a tough 6-3 loss to the Flyers on Wednesday and are usually licking their chops when they head to Western New York, having won 12 of the last 13 meetings with the Sabres, but not so fast. Buffalo has outscored their opponents 12-4 in their first 3 games and if there ever was a statement game for Buffalo this would be it. As expected, the Sabres are a big dog in this one but with they way they are playing and being at home, they are worth considering.
TONIGHT’S PICK: BUFFALO SABRES
Thursday NHL Pick
The Winnipeg Jets have not started the season they they would have liked, going 0-2-1 in their 3-game road trip. Tonight they return home for their season home opener against the Anaheim Ducks and you know one thing for sure, Canada Life Centre will be a sea of all white and electric. Winnipeg opened the season against the Ducks in a heated battle, losing 4-1, so the Jets will have payback on their minds. Anaheim is 0-5 in their last 5 in Winnipeg, 2-6 in the last 8 imeetings overall, and the home team is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings.
TONIGHT’S PICK: WINNIPEG JETS
Wednesday MLB Pick
After yesterday’s come from behind 6-5 victory over the Atlanta Braves, the Los Angeles Dodgers are back in business in the NLCS with momentum on their side and lefty Julio Urías toeing the rubber in tonight’s Game 4. Urías has been light’s out all year with a 21-3 overall record, a 2.99 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP. In two career regular season starts against the Braves, Urías is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA and the Dodgers are 5-0 in his last 5 home starts. Atlanta has yet to announce a starter so it is likely to be a bullpen game for the Braves.
TONIGHT’S PICK: LOS ANGELES DODGERS
Tuesday MLB Pick
If you think the NLCS is over, just look back to last year’s NLCS and you will reconsider. The Dodgers may be down 0-2 but now the venue switches to Dodger Stadium where Los Angeles is 60-24 this season. This series could easily be knotted at one apiece if it were not for Dave Roberts’ questionable managing skills. The Braves have not fared well at Dodger Stadium, with just one win in their last 12 tries, and were swept by the Dodgers in a 3-game set at Chavez Ravine back in August.
TODAY’S PICK: LOS ANGELES DODGERS
Monday NHL Pick
The 1-1-1 New York Rangers got their first win of the season against the struggling Montréal Canadiens on Saturday but will have their work cut out for them tonight when they stay north of the border and visit Scotiabank Arena for a matchup with the 2-1-0 Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto was dominant at home last year, going 18-7-3, and that has carried over to this year where they are a perfect 2-0, with wins over the Ottawa Senators and the Montréal Canadiens. The Leafs will also see the return of their superstar Auston Matthews, who will be making his season debut, and are expected to have Jack Campbell between the pipes. Campbell has been outstanding thus far, with a GAA of only 0.86 and a 0.968 SV%.
TONIGHT’S PICK: TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS
