Saturday Men’s NCAA Basketball Pick

Who would have thought the USF Bulls would be the top seed in the AAC and in the top 25 in the nation when the season started? Not many, but they are. Today they will take their 15-game winning streak to Oklahoma to face the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in their final game of the regular season. The Bulls will be going to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012 and they want to keep this winning streak going, and they will. USF destroyed Tulsa in their last meeting on February 14th, 69-50, and have the edge in points scored, points allowed, 3-pointers, free throws, rebounds, etc., etc., etc. Not only have the Bulls been winning but they have also been a covering machine, with a record of 19-6-3 ATS.
TODAY’S PICK: UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA BULLS -4½

Friday NHL Pick

The Colorado Avalanche made a lot of moves to bolster their already lethal offense and they will be locked and loaded tonight when they host the Minnesota Wild. The Avs, who are just 2 points back of Dallas for the top spot in the Central, acquired forward Casey Mittelstadt from the Sabres, forward Brandon Duhaime from the visiting Wild, and they could see the return of winger Valeri Nichushkin tonight who can find the back of the net. Minnesota dumped a lot of players. It’s obvious they are writing this year off and looking toward the future. Colorado owns an impressive 25-6-0 record at Ball Arena, has won 3 of the last 4 meetings with Minnesota, and will be catching a Wild team that is playing back-to-back games.
TONIGHT’S PICK: COLORADO AVALANCHE

Thursday Men’s NCAA Basketball Pick

After a bump in the road where they lost 4 straight, the Quinnipiac Bobcats are back on track and will look to extend their 2-game winning streak when they host the Marist Red Foxes tonight in Hamden, CT. Quinnipiac still holds the top spot in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a record of 21-8 and as the home team they are a stout 12-3. Marist sits in the #4 spot in MAAC, with a record of 16-11, and is 8-7 as the away team. The Bobcats are averaging 78.2 points per game as opposed to the Red Foxes at 64.9. Quinn won easily in their last meeting in Poughkeepsie, 66-55. Not only do they average a lot more points than Marist, they also have the edge in free throws, rebounds, steals, and blocked shots.
TONIGHT’S PICK: QUINNIPIAC BOBCATS M/L

Wednesday NHL Pick

The Buffalo Sabres will be a big dog tonight when they make the short trek up the QEW to face their Atlantic rival, the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Sabres have been playing well. They are 5-2 over their last 7 and have been good on the road, with a record of 15-12-3, and they always give the Leafs a run for their money. Buffalo has won the last 3 meetings with Toronto, 7 of the last 10, and both contests this year. In December, they blew out the Leafs at Key Bank, 9-3, and in November they took them down in Toronto, 6-4. The Sabres are getting no respect in this one and they should be. Don’t be surprised if the Western New Yorkers pull the upset tonight.
TONIGHT’S PICK: BUFFALO SABRES

Tuesday Men’s NCAA Basketball Pick

The San Diego State Aztecs will make the short trip to Thomas and Mack tonight for a matchup with the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels. The Rebels are hot, winners of their last 4, and are 10-4 as the home team but the Aztecs have had their number. San Diego State has won the last 6 meetings including a 72-61 thumping of UNLV back on January 6th. This game will come down to defense and the Aztecs, like every year, have a formidable D with the edge in points allowed, rebounds, and steals. Currently San Diego is laying 1.5 with a money line of only -125. It makes no sense to lay the points.
TONIGHT’S PICK: SAN DIEGO STATE AZTECS M/L

Monday NHL Pick

It appears the Calgary Flames made the right move when they sent D-man Chris Tanev and others packing because they are clicking on every cylinder. The Flames have won 5 straight, and the 5 wins were against some stiff competition: the Winnipeg Jets, Boston Bruins, Edmonton Oilers, LA Kings and Pittsburgh Penguins. Tonight they will host the Seattle Kraken before heading off on a 3-game road trip, so this game is one they really want. Calgary has won 2 of the 3 meetings with Seattle this year and is 8-2 lifetime against the Kraken. The Flames are hot, ride them ’til they are not.
TONIGHT’S PICK: CALGARY FLAMES

Sunday Men’s NCAA Basketball Pick

After losing their last two, the Niagara Purple Eagles will try to right the ship when they host the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers in a matinée today in Lewiston. Niagara and Mount St Mary’s match up well but the edge goes to Niagara. The Purple Eagles cruised to an easy victory over the Mountaineers, 82-71, in Emmitsburg on January 21st and have won 4 of the last 5 meetings. They also have the edge in points scored, 3-pointers and free throws. The line is currently Niagara -2.5 with a money line of only -145. Don’t sweat the hook.
TODAY’S PICK: NIAGARA PURPLE EAGLES M/L
