The San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers will play the rubber game of their 3-game set in a matinée today at Petco Park. The Padres lost a close one to the Dodgers on Monday, falling 8-9 in extras, but bounced back last night with an 11-1 rout of the World Series champions and they could do it again today. Los Angeles is expected to send lefty Justin Wrobleski to the hill, and he has not looked good. He is 1-2 with a bloated ERA of 7.20 and a 1.40 WHIP. Randy Vásquez is expected to get the start for the Friars. He is 3-4 with a 3.70 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP. In his last turn against the Milwaukee Brewers, Vásquez allowed just two hits, no runs, and San Diego went on to win 2-0. The Padres play well at home with a record of 21-11. They are just one game back of the Dodgers for the lead in the NL West so they need to win this home series against their hated rival, and they know it.
