The Florida Panthers lost their last outing but overall have been playing really good hockey. Tonight they will host a formidable foe, the Washington Capitals. It won’t be a walk in the park but the Panthers are 12-8-2 at home and cruised to an easy victory over the Caps back in November.

Two of the Original 6 will meet tonight when the Detroit Red Wings host the Toronto Maple Leafs. Detroit, at home, is 12-7-1 and Toronto, on the road, is a disaster at 5-10-0. The Red Wings have won both meetings this year. Let’s make it 3.

Since firing their GM Kevyn Adams, the Buffalo Sabres have become a different team. Buffalo has won 7 straight and will be a home favorite tonight when they host the Boston Bruins. The Sabres, at KeyBank Center, have an impressive record of 11-5-2. They will be facing a Bruins team that is 8-9-0 on the road and in a tailspin. Boston has lost 4 straight and 5 of their last 6. Buffalo is hot, at home, and is worth considering.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have lost their last three but return home tonight to face the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Leafs on the road are a dismal 5-10-0 but when they take the ice at Scotiabank Arena they are an impressive 10-5-5. Pittsburgh did get a win in their last outing but prior to that they had lost eight straight. Toronto won both meetings with Pittsburgh this year and 6 of the last 7 overall. The Leafs at home are always worth considering.
