Tuesday NHL Pick
The Toronto Maple Leafs have lost their last three but return home tonight to face the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Leafs on the road are a dismal 5-10-0 but when they take the ice at Scotiabank Arena they are an impressive 10-5-5. Pittsburgh did get a win in their last outing but prior to that they had lost eight straight. Toronto won both meetings with Pittsburgh this year and 6 of the last 7 overall. The Leafs at home are always worth considering.
TONIGHT’S PICK: TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS
Monday NHL Pick
The Vancouver Canucks have won four straight, all on the road, but will be challenged tonight when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers. The Broad Street Bullies have lost their last two, falling to the Buffalo Sabres in Buffalo and the New York Rangers at MSG, but at home they are a different team. The Flyers are 10-5-4 on their home ice, have the edge in goals scored, and will be facing a Canucks team that allows an average of 3.34 goals per game.
TONIGHT’S PICK: PHILADELPHIA FLYERS
Sunday NFL Pick
The 10-4-0 Los Angeles Chargers are on a roll, winning 3 straight and 6 of their last 7. Today they will head to AT&T Stadium to face Dak Prescott and the 6-7-1 Dallas Cowboys. The Bolts’ Justin Hebert should have a big day today against a Cowboys defense that is ranked 32nd in the league against the pass. With a win today, and a loss by the Indianapolis Colts or Houston Texans, the Chargers clinch a playoff spot so they will be extra motivated to put the screws to the Boys who are eliminated from playoff contention.
TODAY’S PICK: LOS ANGELES CHARGERS +1½
Saturday NHL Pick
The Vancouver Canucks have won three straight, all on the road, but that streak could be in jeopardy tonight when they visit the Boston Bruins. The Bruins are 12-6-0 at TD Garden and unlike the Canucks were off yesterday so they will be well-rested. Boston can score, averaging 3.20 goals per game, and that doesn’t bode well for Vancouver who is expected to have Kevin Lankinen between the pipes. Lankinen is 4-10-3 with a bloated GAA of 3.49.
TONIGHT’S PICK: BOSTON BRUINS
Friday NHL Pick
The Florida Panthers will be a home dog tonight when they host the Carolina Hurricanes in Sunrise. Both teams are firing on every cylinder. Florida has won 3 straight and 6 of their last 7. Carolina has won 5 straight and 6 of their last 7 but keep in mind 3 of those wins were shootout wins and could have gone either way. Florida boasts an 11-6-2 record at American Bank Arena, has won 6 of the last 8 meetings with the ‘Canes, and will not take kindly to being a home underdog. Consider the champs.
TONIGHT’S PICK: FLORIDA PANTHERS
Thursday NHL Pick
The Washington Capitals have lost three straight but they should get back in the Win column tonight when they return home to face the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Caps have dominated at Capital One Arena with a record of 10-5-2 and are expected to have Logan Thompson between the pipes. Thompson has a GAA of only 2.09 and should keep Auston Matthews and company in check. Both the Leafs and Caps can score but Toronto has a hard time stopping the puck which will be the difference maker in this game.
TONIGHT’S PICK: WASHINGTON CAPITALS
