The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels will be laying 17.5 points when they host the Prairie View A&M Panthers tonight at the Thomas and Mack Center. If the Rebels want to cover this number, they can do so easily. The Rebels, who are 1-0, opened the season at home where they crushed the Florida A&M Rattlers, 108-66. The Panthers are 0-2 (both road games), averaging 64.5 points per game and allowing an average of 91.5. Two of the original six teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins, will meet north of the border tonight at Air Canada Centre. The Leafs have been tough at home, with a record of 6-3-0-0, and are 5-2 in their last 7 games against the Atlantic Division. Mike Babcock is still being vague about Auston Matthews’ return but he didn’t skate yesterday so I doubt that we will see him tonight. On the flip side, the Bruins are 1-3-0-1 on the road, 1-5 in their last 6 games against the Atlantic Division, and 0-4 in their last 4 meetings with Toronto. Two key players for Boston, Brad Marchand and Noel Acciari, will be game time decisions. With or without Matthews, I like Toronto’s chances in this one.
