Thursday Men’s NCAA Basketball Pick

Two of the bottom dwellers in the MAAC square off tonight when the 5-15 Niagara Purple Eagles travel to Poughkeepsie New York to take on the 4-14 Marist Red Foxes. Niagara has been covering on the road with a 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4, and 4-1 ATS in the last 5 against teams with a losing record. The Red Foxes have been awful at home, with a 1-7 record and are 0-4-1 ATS in the last 5 home games against teams with losing records. I like the Purple Eagles getting 5 in this one.

Wednesday NHL Pick

The Colorado Avalanche stay in California and travel south to Staples Center tonight to take on the Los Angeles Kings. Colorado is playing back-to-back games after taking a complete thumping by the San Jose Sharks last night. The Avalanche haven’t done well at Staples Center, with a 1-5 record in the last 6 games. Jonathan Quick is expected between the pipes tonight for the Kings and that usually represents a win.

Toronto travels south tonight to Sunrise, Florida to take on the red hot Panthers. The Florida Panthers are hitting on every cylinder after shutting out the Chicago Blackhawks with a 4-0 win on Friday and a 5-2 victory over Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. The Panthers are 9-1 in their last 10 home games and the Maple Leafs are 1-5 in their last 6 meetings with Florida. Luongo is expected between the pipes for Florida. The Panthers should win this one.

Monday Men’s NCAA Basketball Pick

I’m leaning towards the Appalachian State Mountaineers at home over the Georgia Southern Eagles. The Southern Eagles are surrendering an average of 85 points per game on the road. The Mountaineers are holding teams to an average of 70.5 points per game at home. With the edge in free throws, field goals, defense and rebounding, the Mountaineers should cover the line.

I’m siding with the bad boys of basketball today as Syracuse heads to Virginia to take on the Cavaliers. Since Boeheim has returned from his suspension for multiple infractions, the Orange are 3-1. I’m taking the “Q”, getting 10.

The Canisius Golden Griffins host the Siena Saints at home today in Western New York. The Golden Griffins are starting to roll, winning their last 3 straight games. Canisius is averaging 81.6 points per game and are giving up 78 on their home court. Siena on the road is averaging 73.2 and allowing 77.9 points per game. Between these two, home teams are 6-2 ATS in the last 8. The Golden Griffins have the edge in points per game, free throws, turnovers and bench. Siding with the boys from Buffalo today.
