Tuesday MLB Pick

The New York Yankees will open a 2-game set with the Tampa Bay Rays tonight at Steinbrenner Field, their home away from home. The Yankees know this park well, being their spring training facility, and so does Carlos Rodón, the Bombers expected starter. Rodón is 12-7 with a 3.35 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP. This is home for New York and despite having an inept manager at the helm, Aaron Boone, they will still get the win.
TONIGHT’S PICK: NEW YORK YANKEES

The San Diego Padres are licking their wounds after getting swept by their hated rival, the Los Angeles Dodgers, over the weekend at Chavez Ravine. Tonight the Padres head back home to Petco Park to face the San Francisco Giants. The Friars are tough at home, have the Giants number, winning the last 3 meetings, and get back on track tonight.

The Milwaukee Brewers 14-game winning streak will come to an end today when they face the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. The Reds’ ace, Andrew Abbott, will shut down the Brewers. Abbott is 8-3 with a 2.42 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP. Enough said.

TODAY’S PICK: TORONTO BLUE JAYS

Friday MLB Pick

The 69-52 Philadelphia Phillies lost the opener of their 4-game set with the 49-72 Washington Nationals last night, 3-2. The Phillies have now lost three straight but still have a 5-game lead over the New York Mets for the lead in the NL East. Tonight at Nationals Park, the Phillies should get back to their winning ways. Their ace, Zack Wheeler, is expected to get the nod. Wheeler has been dominant as always with a record of 10-5, a 2.68 ERA, and a 0.93 WHIP. The Nationals are expected to counter with southpaw MacKenzie Gore who has just 5 wins with 12 losses. His ERA is 4.09 with a 1.33 WHIP and he has struggled over his past 3 turns, going 1-2 with a bloated ERA of 8.79 and a 1.81 WHIP. Philadelphia scores more runs per game than Washington, gives up less, and is the better team on the field tonight.
TONIGHT’S PICK: PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

Thursday MLB Pick

The Miami Marlins will go for a series win over the Cleveland Guardians when the two clubs wrap up their 3-game set tonight at Progressive Field. Miami has momentum on their side after last night’s 13-4 rout of Cleveland and will have Edward Cabrera on the hill. Cabrera is 6-5 with a 3.08 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and it gets better. Over his last 3 starts, he has been in the zone. Cabrera is 2-1 with an ERA of only 1.35, a 0.65 WHIP, and pitched 8 strong innings in his last turn against the Braves allowing just 2 hits and 1 run with 11 K’s in a 5-1 Marlins’ victory. Cleveland will hand the ball to Tanner Bibee and he has been a disappointment after inking a lucrative 5-year extension. Bibee is 8-9 with a 4.60 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, and Cleveland is 0-4 in his last 4 interleague starts. At 6 games back of the last NL wild card spot, the Marlins still have a shot at the postseason. Early in the 2025 campaign no one gave Miami a second thought but that has changed due to the Marlins’ skipper, Clayton McCullough, who is proving he is one of the best in the business.
TONIGHT’S PICK: MIAMI MARLINS

Wednesday MLB Pick

With last night’s 5-1 win over the San Francisco Giants, the San Diego Padres have won 4 straight and are now tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the lead in the NL West. Today at Oracle Park the Padres will go for a 3-game sweep of the Giants and will call on Nick Pivetta to throw strikes. Pivetta has excellent numbers at 11-4 with a 2.94 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP. The Giants will send Kai-Wei Teng to the hill. Teng has just two starts under his belt and is 1-1 with an elevated 5.40 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. San Diego’s hot bats should send him packing early. The Friars are on a roll, winning 20 of their last 30. They are 6-2 this year against the Giants and are the side to consider this afternoon.
