Monday MLB Pick

The Chicago Cubs start their season off with interleague play when they travel to the west coast to take on Garrett Richards and the LA Angels. Chicago has the reigning NL Cy Young winner on the bump tonight, Jake Arrieta, and the Cubs are 4-1 in his last 5 interleague starts. Chicago was a force last year and now they added Jason Heyward and Ben Zobrist to the roster. Scary!

Tonight’s pick:

Sunday Baseball Pick

Opening Day is finally here. Let’s start the season off right with a win and take Liriano and the Pirates over the visiting Wainwright and the Cardinals. Wainwright has had trouble at PNC Park. He’s 0-4 in his last 4 in Pittsburgh. The lefty Liriano shines at home. He’s 11-0 in his last 11 home starts. Let’s take McCutcheon and company today.

Today’s pick:

Pittsburgh Pirates

Friday Baseball Pick

It is do or die time for the New York Mets and today they’ll get it done. The rookie flame thrower Syndergaard gets the call and he has been outstanding. Over his last 3 outings, his ERA is 2.37 and his WHIP is 0.84. The Mets are 8-2 in his last 10 home starts. The Royals have Ventura on the hill and they are 0-5 in his last 5 interleague games. Mets in this one.

Today’s pick:

New York Mets

Game 2 World Series Pick

The Mets try to even up the series at a game apiece, as they send another one of their aces to the mound tonight. Jacob deGrom gets the start for the New York Mets and he’s been spectacular on the road, winning all 3 road post-season games, logging a 1.80 ERA and a WHIP of 1.00. Mets are 7-0 in deGrom’s last 7 road starts against a team with a winning record. Johnny Cueto is going for the Kansas City Royals tonight and he’s been erratic since coming over from the Reds. He has an ERA of 7.88 with a WHIP of 1.38 in his last 3 starts. Carlson’s behind home plate and road teams are 6-0 in his last 6 interleague games when he’s umping. I’m siding with the Mets on this one.

Tonight’s pick:

New York Mets

Friday ALCS Game 6 Pick

The Toronto Blue Jays travel Kansas City to take on the Royals where it is a win-or-go-golfing situation. The lefty David Price gets the call tonight for the Jays and he is well rested. David Price is a top 5 (or better) pitcher. People forget he won 18 games this year and all that’s talked about is his 0-7 lifetime post season record. I like Price to win this one, get the monkey off his back, and force a game 7.

Tonight’s pick:

Toronto Blue Jays

Wednesday ALCS Pick

Toronto was embarrassed yesterday, allowing the Royals to score 14 runs. That should give the Jays some extra incentive to push a game 6 to Kansas City. Volquez gets the nod for the Royals and in his 2 regular season starts this year at Rogers Centre he was 0-2 with an ERA of 6.10. Estrada starts for the Jays and he’s done well at home, going 5-2 in his last 7 starts. If needed, Price is available in the bullpen. Pack your bags, Joey Bats.
