The Pirates finally come home tonight after a long road trip to host the St. Louis Cardinals. Pittsburgh is 8-1 in their last 9 games overall. Happ gets the nod tonight for the Bucks and the Pirates are 7-1 in his last 8 starts. The Cardinals have Lynn on the hill. They are 1-4 in Lynn’s last 5 starts vs. National League Central, and 0-5 in his last 5 road starts against the Pirates. The Cardinals have not fared well in Pittsburgh, winning just 1 of their last 6 meetings. Pittsburgh should get this one.

Great day yesterday with the Yankees and Blue Jays winning key games. Today we stay north of the border with the Toronto Blue Jays. Buehrle gets the start for the Jays and he is 10-4 in his last 14 at Rogers Centre. Couple that with the Rays inability to hit lefties, at 2-5 in their last 7. Jays should win this game.

The Chicago White Sox are in the Bronx tonight where they are 7-24 in their last 31 games in New York and 1-8 in their last 9 meetings. CC gets the start for the Yanks and he’s starting to heat up, with an ERA of 1.04 and a WHIP of 1.15 over his last 3 games. The Bombers are 6-1 in Sabathia’s last 7 starts against Chicago and 60-29 in his last 89 home starts at the stadium.

Let’s keep it rolling today with the lefty Mad Bum and the Giants, as they visit Petco and the Padres. San Francisco is 12-5 in Bumgarner’s last 17 starts against the Padres. Over his last 3 starts, he is 2-1 with an ERA of 1.96 and a Whip of 0.83. Kennedy gets the start for the Pads and over his last 3 he is 0-3 with an ERA of 8.04 and a WHIP of 0.83. San Diego has problems with lefties. They are 2-7 in their last 9 games against them. West is behind home plate and the Giants are 6-0 in their last 6 when he is umping. With the edge in starting pitching, bullpen, hitting, power, speed and defense, the Giants should get this one.

Phillies are in Miami tonight. Both teams are awful and out of it but someone has to win so I’m siding with the home team, Miami. Buchanan gets the start for Philadelphia and he has been terrible, posting an ERA of 13.91 and a WHIP of 3.00 over his last 3 games. Philadelphia is 1-11 in his last 12 road starts and they are 24-52 away from home. Franco and Howard are done for the remainder of the season for the Phillies. Conley gets the nod for the Marlins and they are 4-0 in his last 4 starts. Miami should snap their 4 game skid tonight.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have been on a roll, winning their last three games on the road. Look for that to continue tonight in Colorado. The Bucs know that with a win tonight and a Giants loss in San Diego, they’ll clinch a wild card berth. The lefty Happ is on the bump for the Pirates and he has been outstanding, posting an ERA of 1.93 and a WHIP of 0.86 over his last 3 outings. The Rockies have trouble with southpaws, winning just 8 of their last 36 against them. Couple this with Happ’s recent road record of 4-0 and the Pirates should get the win.
