The Oakland Athletics have lost 8 straight and at 10-42 on the season are on pace to have the worst season ever in baseball history. Tonight their chances of getting a win do not look good when they open a 3-game series at home with the Houston Astros. Houston has lost their last two but prior to that they were playing like the champions they are. Tonight the A’s expected starter, James Kaprielian, is not the answer. He is 0-4 with an ERA of 8.68 and a 1.86 WHIP. The ‘Stros are expected to send Hunter Brown to the rubber. Brown is 4-1 with a 3.20 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. Houston has won the last 4 meetings with Oakland and unless they have a total meltdown should come out on top.

The Chicago White Sox are starting to turn things around and will be in Detroit tonight to open a 4-game set with their AL Central rival Detroit Tigers. The Minnesota Twins will try to slow down the red hot San Francisco Giants when they play the middle game of their 3-game set tonight at Target Field. The Giants are 6-1 in their last 7 and won the opener, 4-1, but are still just 8-13 on the road. They will have to face the Twins ace, Sonny Gray, and that is always difficult. Gray is a perfect 4-0 with a 1.64 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. The Giants will send Alex Cobb to the hill and he has also been dealing. Cobb is 3-1 with a 1.94 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. The Twins have only 2 wins in their last 7 games but 4 of those losses came on the road and they are a different team in Minneapolis. Minnesota is 14-9 at Target Field and 4-0 in their last 4 in game 2 of a series.

The 25-22 Toronto Blue Jays will open a 4-game set with the 34-14 Tampa Bay Rays tonight in St. Pete. Toronto has lost 4 straight but should get back on track with Chris Bassitt tapping the rubber.
