Thursday NHL Pick

The Montréal Canadiens are atop of the Atlantic Division with the Ottawa Senators breathing down their necks and will face them on Saturday but tonight they better take care of business at home and concentrate on the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes have struggled against the Habs, going 2-8 in the last 10 meetings, and are just 1-10 in their last 11 in Montréal. The Canadiens are 6-1 in their last 7 games against the Eastern Conference and 4-1 in their last 5 against the Metropolitan Division. Carey Price should be between the pipes for Montréal tonight but has had some upper body issues so it is not confirmed. If the Habs don’t overlook this game for Saturday’s matchup with the Senators, they should get the win.

Tonight’s pick:

Montréal Canadiens

Saturday NHL Pick

The Washington Capitals have been lethargic at best of late but will try to get their dominance back tonight when they head to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning. Washington is just 1-5 in their last 6 games overall but have gone 6-1 in their last 7 meetings with Tampa Bay. The Capitals blanked the Lightning in their last meeting, 4-0, on December 23rd and Tampa did not look good on Thursday, getting shut out at home by Toronto, 5-0. It’s just a matter of time before the Capitals’ many weapons start finding the back of the net and tonight could be the night.

Tonight’s pick:

Washington Capitals

Friday NHL Pick

The struggling Buffalo Sabres were blanked 2-0 in last night’s contest with the Los Angeles Kings and they will be playing back-to-back games tonight when they make the short trip to Honda Center to take on the Anaheim Ducks. Buffalo is 1-5-1 in their last 7 games and they have struggled against Anaheim. The Sabres are 1-6 in their last 7 meetings with the Ducks and 1-6 in their last 7 trips to Honda Center. Anaheim’s Captain Ryan Getzlaf is heating up, notching 3 goals with 9 assists over his last 7 games. Anaheim should coast to victory tonight.

Tonight’s pick:

Anaheim Ducks

Tuesday NHL Pick

The Buffalo Sabres will be out west tonight to take on the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks are by far the superior team in this matchup but for some reason the Sabres have had success against them. Buffalo is 14-3-1 in their last 18 meetings with San Jose and 5-0 in their last 5 trips to SAP Center. The Sabres are a big underdog tonight so why not take a shot?

Tonight’s pick:

Buffalo Sabres

Monday NHL Pick

The Nashville Predators return home tonight from their west coast road trip to face the reeling Winnipeg Jets. The Jets have lost 3 in a row, are 14-15-5-0 on the road and 3-8 in their last 11 games in Nashville. The Predators are a good home team with a record of 19-8-5-2 and I see them notching a home victory tonight.

Tonight’s pick:

Nashville Predators

Sunday NHL Pick

The Dallas Stars will have their work cut out for them tonight when they take their 9-18-4-0 road record into the SAP Center to face the San Jose Sharks. The Stars are 1-8 in their last 9 against the Western Conference and 3-8 in their last 11 in San Jose. The number in this one is high and the reason for that is San Jose is 21-8-3-1 at home.

Tonight’s pick:

San Jose Sharks

Tuesday NHL Pick

The Toronto Maple Leafs will try to stop the bleeding tonight when they host another original 6 team, the Detroit Red Wings. The Leafs now find themselves 1 point back for the second Wild Card spot after dropping their last 5 games. Toronto is 6-2-2 in the last 10 meetings with Detroit and won the last contest 4-0 on January 25th in Detroit. Frederik Andersen is expected between the pipes tonight for the Leafs and he is 3-0 with a 1.96 GAA against the Red Wings. Toronto has had 3 days off to heal so they should be well rested. I like their chances in this one.

Tonight’s pick:

Toronto Maple Leafs
