The Toronto Maple Leafs open their West coast road trip tonight when they face the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center. Toronto has had success against Anaheim, taking the last 6 out of 7 contests. However, December’s Rookie of the Month John Gibson is expected between the pipes and might have something to say about that. Over his last 4 wins he has been nothing but spectacular, posting 2 shutouts along with a 0.75 GAA and .963 SV%. The Ducks have a respectable 10-5-4 home record and the Leafs are a mediocre 8-9-2 on the road. Siding with So. Cal in this one.

Washington is experiencing a rare 2 game losing streak but have won the last 4 against Boston. The Capitals have been dominant on the road, posting a 13-4-2 record. On the flip side, Boston has been far from stellar with a 9-10-2 home record. Braden Holtby is expected in net tonight for the Capitals and has been spectacular with a 24-4-2 record, a GAA of 1.92 and .932 SV%. I expect the Capitals to come out strong tonight.
