As the regular season winds down, the St. Louis Blues are heating up just at the right time. The Blues have won 5 straight and are 12-2-2 over their last 16. This afternoon they will host the Nashville Predators at Enterprise Center. The Preds have nothing to play for and the Blues do. With Calgary breathing down their necks for the last wild card spot, St. Louis cannot afford to lose at home to the inferior Predators and they know it. St. Louis has won both meetings with Nashville this year. The Preds are the worst offensive team in the league, their defense is not much better, and they are a dismal 8-21-5 on the road.

The Carolina Hurricanes will go for their 9th straight win today when they head to Crypto Arena to face the Los Angeles Kings but hold on a minute. The Kings are also clicking on every cylinder, winning 6 of their last 7. They won the last meeting with the Canes, 4-2, on February 1st and they are lethal at the Crypt with a record of 23-3-4.

At 28-32-10 with 12 games remaining on the schedule, the Pittsburgh Penguins’ playoff hopes are hanging by a thin thread, but they are still alive and losing tonight at home to the struggling Columbus Blue Jackets is not an option. The Blue Jackets have not played well on the road, at 11-19-4. They come into PPG Paints Arena tonight losers of 5 straight and over that span they have mustered just 4 goals. The Penguins have won 4 of their last 5 and have played well at home, with a record of 17-14-5. They will come out swinging tonight because they have nothing to lose.
TONIGHT’S PICK: PITTSBURGH PENGUINS

The Los Angeles Kings will take a 5-game winning streak into St. Paul tonight to face the Minnesota Wild. The Kings are hot but keep in mind that 4 of the 5 wins have been at home and they have not been that good on the road, with a record of 13-17-5. The Wild have been struggling and that is partly due to their top scorer, Kirill Kaprizov, being out but they are still a very talented team with a record of 37-25-5 and after Saturday’s 5-1 loss at home to the Blues they will be extra motivated.
TONIGHT’S PICK: MINNESOTA WILD

The Minnesota Wild should get a victory at home tonight over the St. Louis Blues. The Wild have just one win over their last four but have had the Blues’ number, winning the last three meetings, and are catching a team that has lost their last two. The Wild don’t score a lot but make up for it with a strong defense and should prevail against a Blues team that averages under 3 goals per game.

The Los Angeles Kings will be on the road tonight to face the Vegas Golden Knights and they are going to have issues. Vegas is hot. The Knights have won 4 straight and are 24-6-3 on the Strip.

The New jersey Devils are even money at home tonight against the Winnipeg Jets and are the side to consider. Winnipeg is good, we know that; however, they have lost 3 of their last 4 and the Devils are 15-10-4 at the Rock.
