The Central leading Dallas Stars will be in the friendly confines of American Airlines Center tonight when they host the Calgary Flames. The 12-4-2 Stars are 5-3-1 at home and despite a tough OT loss on Wednesday to the Vegas Golden Knights, they are still 5-2 over their last 7. The 7-9-3 Flames have had issues finding the back of the net. They are averaging under 3 goals per game, and it won’t get any easier for them tonight with the Stars expected goalie, Jake Oettinger, getting the nod. He is 8-3-2 with a 2.45 GAA and a .920 SV%. Dallas has won the last 2 meetings with Calgary and if they kept yesterday’s Thanksgiving Day festivities in check, they should come out on top.
TONIGHT’S PICK: DALLAS STARS

The 11-5-0 Colorado Avalanche will be in Nashville tonight to take on the 6-10-0 Predators. The Preds have not been playing well. They are 1-4 in their last 5 overall. They are also 1-4 in their last 5 as an underdog and 1-4 in their last 5 against the Western Conference. On the other hand, the Avs have won 3 straight and are an impressive 6-3 on the road. Colorado has won the last 8 meetings with Nashville and has the edge in goals per game, goals against, shots on goal, shooting efficiency, and the list goes on and on.

The Vancouver Canucks are off to their best start in franchise history, at 12-4-1, and will be at home tonight to face their neighbors to the south, the 6-8-4 Seattle Kraken. Seattle is 3-3-4 on the road and just 2-5 in their last 7. They will have to bring their A-game tonight if they want to pull off the upset. The Canucks have not lost in regulation this year at Rogers Arena, with a record of 6-0-1. They are 7-2 in their last 9 and in the 8 times they have faced the Kraken in Seattle’s brief history in the NHL, they have won 6 of them.
TONIGHT’S PICK: VANCOUVER CANUCKS

In a rare 3-0 shutout at the hands of the Washington Capitals on Tuesday, I expect the defending Stanley Cup Champion Vegas Golden Knights will bounce back tonight when they visit the Montréal Canadiens. The Champs are on pace to win it all again with a record of 12-3-1, and have owned the 7-7-2 Habs, winning the last 5 meetings. Vegas is expected to have Adin Hill between the pipes and he is playing at the top of his game. Hill is 7-1-1 with an outstanding GAA of only 1.75 and a .939 SV%.
TONIGHT’S PICK: VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS

The Detroit Red Wings have lost two straight but should get back on track today when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets in a matinee at Little Caesars Arena. The Red Wings are not the same team they were last year. This team is vastly improved and is 4-2-2 at home. They score more goals per game than the Jackets and give up less.

The Florida Panthers will be hosting the Carolina Hurricanes tonight in Sunrise, Florida. The Panthers have been without their best player, Sam Bennett, but they are still 7-4-1 overall and 4-1-0 at Amerant Bank Arena. Moreover, they are 4-1 at home against the Canes and a home dog? You have to consider the Cats.
