The New Jersey Devils have lost 4 straight but should get back on the rails tonight when they visit the Seattle Kraken. Despite their 4-game skid, the Devils are still 24-15-3 and have won the last 4 meetings with the Kraken. Seattle is also in a funk, losers of their last 2, 7 of their last 9, and when a home dog of +151 to 200 they are 0-11. New Jersey scores more goals per game than Seattle, gives up less, and is worth considering despite the heavy juice.

The Montréal Canadiens were an easy mark early in the season, but things have changed. The Canadiens have won 3 straight and 6 of their last 7. Their last 3 wins were against three of the top teams in the league: Vegas, Tampa, Florida, and all were on the road. Tonight, they will be in Chicago to take on the reeling Blackhawks. Chicago is a mess. They are just 12-24-2 on the season, have lost 5 straight, and 7 of their last 10. The Canadiens have won the last 4 meetings with the Blackhawks and after tonight it should be 5. The Habs are hot, ride them ’til they are not.

Vegas is 13-4 at T-Mobile Arena and have been hot, winning 8 of their last 10 games. The Knights have also won 4 of the last 5 meetings with the Broad Street Bullies and have the edge in goals scored, goals against, etc., etc.

The Detroit Red Wings are starting to turn things around and will look to stay on course when they host the Montréal Canadiens tonight at Little Caesars Arena. Detroit has won 2 straight, 3 of their last 4, and they have owned the Canadiens. The Red Wings have won the last 3 meetings with the Habs and 5 of the last 6. Montréal is just 3-9-1 on the road and did win their last game, 6-1, but that was against the Buffalo Sabres and if you can’t beat the Sabres you have major issues.

The Dallas Stars will be on their home ice tonight when they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at American Airlines Center. The 19-10-2 Leafs are a force at Scotiabank Arena but when they take it on the arches, they are just 5-6-2. The 19-11-0 Stars have been a visiting team’s nightmare with a home record of 13-3-0. Dallas averages more goals per game than Toronto and gives up less. The Leafs have won the last 6 meetings with the Stars but trends end.
TONIGHT’S PICK: DALLAS STARS

The Tampa Bay Lightning return home tonight to Amalie Arena to host the struggling Columbus Blue Jackets. The Jackets, who lost 4 straight and 7 of their last 8, had better be in the zone because the Bolts are starting to heat up. Tampa has won 2 straight, 4 of their last 5, and they are 8-4-1 on their home ice. They have also won 7 of the last 10 meetings with Columbus and they can score. The Bolts are averaging 4 goals per game and that doesn’t bode well for a Jackets team that is allowing an average of 3.58 goals per game.
