The Detroit Red Wings will have extra incentive tonight when they host the Nashville Predators at Little Caesars Arena. The Red Wings have lost 6 straight to the Predators and 5 of the last 6 to them at home so it’s time to turn the table. This is not the same old Detroit club. The Red Wings are 9-5-4 overall, 5-2-2 at home, and average 3.3 goals per game. The Predators are 9-8-2, 3-5-0 on the road, and average only 2.7 goals per game. The expected goalie for Nashville is Juuse Saros. He is 7-6-2 with a 3.06 GAA and a .905 SV%. On the flip side, the Red Wings are expected to have Ville Husso between the pipes. He is 7-2-3 with a 2.55 GAA and a .916 SV%. Advantage Detroit.

The Winnipeg Jets will be a home dog tonight when they host the struggling Carolina Hurricanes. The Canes usually get the better of the Jets but they have lost 2 in a row, 5 of their last 7, and it’s always tough when you visit Canada Life Centre. Winnipeg is 10-2 in their last 12 home games and 5-2 in their last 7 overall. Good value on the Jets tonight.

The Calgary Flames’ road troubles continue. Thursday they lost once again on the road, this time to the Tampa Bay Lightning, and it won’t get any easier for them when they travel to Sunrise for a matinée today with the Florida Panthers. The Panthers are 4-2 in their last 6 overall and a very respectable 5-2-1 at FLA Live Arena. With Thursday’s loss, the Flames are 1-3-1 away from Scotiabank Saddledome and just 2-8 in their last 10 overall. Depending on where you shop, the line is -135 Panthers, which is a little fishy, but they are still worth a consideration.
TODAY’S PICK: FLORIDA PANTHERS

The New Jersey Devils will go for their 11th straight win when they travel north of the border to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs, but not so fast. The Leafs are 6-2-1 at home, have won 8 straight against the Devils and 12 of the last 14 meetings at Scotiabank Arena. All good things must come to an end.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have lost their last two but get back on track tonight because the Vancouver Canucks come to town. The Canucks are 2-4-3 on the road and are 1-12 in their last 13 on Bay Street. Matthews and company get it done tonight.

Darryl Sutter’s Calgary Flames are spiraling out of control, losers of their last 6, and tonight they will be in Boston to take on the Bruins. Good luck. The Bruins are 7-0 at home and are the best thing on ice.
