Calgary holds the second wild card spot in the Western Conference, are only 3 points back of Edmonton and San Jose, and 5 behind Anaheim. Colorado is just 9-27-1-0 on the road and 3-18 in their last 21 against the Pacific Division. The Flames are 8-1 in their last 9 home games and knocked off Colorado 4-1 on January 4th, and 6-3 on December 27th. Calgary should cruise to an easy victory tonight.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are riding a 3-game winning streak but tonight they cross the Peace Bridge to take on the Buffalo Sabres. The Leafs are in pursuit of a playoff berth and the Sabres would love nothing more than to put a halt to it. The Leafs have had issues against the Sabres, going 6-20 in the last 26 games in Western New York, and the Sabres won the last match-up in Toronto, 3-1, on February 11th. Buffalo has the edge in defense, power plays, face offs, discipline and goaltending. I like Eichel and company tonight.

The Anaheim Ducks are hot and suddenly find themselves just 2 points back of the Pacific-leading San Jose Sharks. Anaheim is 4-0-1 in their last 5 games and will try to keep the momentum going when they host the Winnipeg Jets tonight at Honda Center. Winnipeg comes into tonight’s game with a 15-16-6 road record, are 1-11 in the last 12 meetings with Anaheim, and 1-5 in their last 6 at Honda Center. The Ducks recent success can be attributed to the superb play of Captain Ryan Getzlaf and Rickard Rakell. Rakell, the Ducks leading scorer with 32 tallies, has 5 goals and 3 assists in his last 6 outings. I like Anaheim in this situation.

The Hurricanes have struggled against the Habs, going 2-8 in the last 10 meetings, and are just 1-10 in their last 11 in Montréal. The Canadiens are 6-1 in their last 7 games against the Eastern Conference and 4-1 in their last 5 against the Metropolitan Division. Carey Price should be between the pipes for Montréal tonight but has had some upper body issues so it is not confirmed. If the Habs don’t overlook this game for Saturday’s matchup with the Senators, they should get the win.

The Washington Capitals have been lethargic at best of late but will try to get their dominance back tonight when they head to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning. Washington is just 1-5 in their last 6 games overall but have gone 6-1 in their last 7 meetings with Tampa Bay. The Capitals blanked the Lightning in their last meeting, 4-0, on December 23rd and Tampa did not look good on Thursday, getting shut out at home by Toronto, 5-0. It’s just a matter of time before the Capitals’ many weapons start finding the back of the net and tonight could be the night.
