The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels will be laying 17.5 points when they host the Prairie View A&M Panthers tonight at the Thomas and Mack Center. If the Rebels want to cover this number, they can do so easily. The Rebels, who are 1-0, opened the season at home where they crushed the Florida A&M Rattlers, 108-66. The Panthers are 0-2 (both road games), averaging 64.5 points per game and allowing an average of 91.5. The Rebels have the edge in every category and are ranked #40 in offensive field goal percentage shooting as opposed to the Panthers at #294. Get this one early, it could climb.
TONIGHT’S PICK: UNLV -17.5

Look for the IPFW Mastodons to come away with a victory today when they travel to Corpus Christi to take on the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders. The Mastodons can put up the numbers, averaging 87.7 points per game, as opposed to the Islanders who average 75.7. The Islanders are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall. IPFW has the edge in points per game, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, rebounding and bench. The line is Mastodons -2 so why not just take them on money line?

A trip to Madison Square Gardens is on the line tonight when the Texas Arlington Mavericks host the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners in the NIT Quarterfinals. The Mavericks have been lights out at home, posting a home record of 14-0, where they average 83.6 points per game and give up an average of 68.2. The Mavericks latest victim was a good Akron Zips team that they routed 85-69 at home on Monday. The Roadrunners are no slouches on the road, where they are 10-6, averaging 68.4 points per game and allowing an average of 63.8. Texas Arlington will be laying 5.5 in this one and they are 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 home games. I like the Mavericks chances in this one.

The Iowa Hawkeyes will be laying 2 at home today against Texas Christian University Horned Frogs and they should be able to cover that number. Iowa averages 86.2 points per game at home and gives up an average of 75.7. TCU averages 67.8 points away from home and give up an average of 75.8. The Hawkeyes are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite. Hawks in this one.

The Nevada Wolf Pack will be getting 6.5 points tonight when they face the Iowa State Cyclones at BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Pack have been on a roll, winning 9 in a row, and covering all of those 9, and they are 38-15-2 ATS in their last 55 games overall. We know the Cyclones can put up some numbers and are one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the nation but opponents of Nevada shot just 30.7% from beyond the arc. I’ll side with the Pack in this one who have the edge in free throws, defense and rebounding.

The IPFW Mastodons will be laying 4.5 points today against the Ball State Cardinals and this is one they should cover. The ‘Dons might not be on their home court but they may as well be since this game is being played at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. IPFW knows how to find the basket, averaging 87.7 points per game and are ranked 14th in offensive field goal percentage shooting. If you flip it over, Ball State averages 78.7 points per game and are ranked 73rd in offensive field goal percentage shooting. We can’t do any head-to-head matchups on this one since these two teams haven’t played each other since 2008 but the Mastodons have the edge in points per game, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, rebounding and turnovers. I like the ‘Dons here.
