The South Florida Bulls have had some formidable foes thus far but it will get a little easier tonight when they host the Eastern Carolina Pirates at Raymond James Stadium. USF opened the season with a win over Citadel, 27-6, but then had to face #5 ranked Notre Dame and #11 ranked Cincinnati. The Irish blew the Bulls out 52-0 but they hung in there with the Bearcats, losing 28-7 with 5 interceptions, despite having 12 players out for that game with 8 of those on the defensive side. The Pirates, who are winless at 0-2, were blown out by Central Florida, 51-28, and by Georgia State, 49-29. Their defense is pathetic. They are ranked last in the AAC, have yet to record a sack, and are allowing an average of 558.5 yards per game. South Florida has won the last 5 meetings with Eastern Carolina, including a 45-21 drubbing in their last meeting on October 26, 2019. Even the Bulls lethargic offense should be able to move the ball against the Pirates.

Clemson has the #1 ranked defense in the country and are averaging 2.85 sacks per game. The Tigers have won 28 consecutive games and have averaged 42.1 points in their last 8. That’s impressive.

The Richmond Spiders will make the short trip to Norfolk tonight for a meeting with the Old Dominion Monarchs. The Spiders are off and running this year, with a 9-1 record. They have been averaging 80 points per game on the road and allowing an average of 63. Not bad. The Monarchs are on a 7-game skid and are a dismal 3-8 on the season. At home, Old Dominion is averaging 67.2 points per game and allowing an average of 66. The Monarchs have won the last 3 meetings with the Spiders but expect that trend to end tonight.
