The 7-2-0 Liberty Flames and the 7-3-0 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers will meet this afternoon on Liberty’s home turf at Williams Stadium. These teams match up well, but the edge goes to the Flames. Liberty is 4-1-0 in Lynchburg and have won two straight due to a punishing ground attack. The Flames are averaging just shy of 250 yards rushing per game and the Hilltoppers’ weak run defense will have trouble slowing down the Flames top rusher, Quinton Cooley. He has rushed for 998 yards on the season and is coming off another big game against UMass where he ran for 147 yards on 20 carries. The line is jumping back and forth from -1 to -1½ Liberty, so consider the Flames on the money line at around only -115.

The USF Bulls will be in Charlotte today to take on the 49ers. Charlotte has lost 3 straight and 7 of their last 10. South Florida has won 2 of their last 3. The Bulls score more points per game than the Niners and pulverized them in their last meeting, 48-14.

The 25th ranked Army Black Knights will take swagger and a perfect 8-0 record into Denton, Texas today for a matchup with the North Texas Mean Green. Dating back to last year, the Black Knights have actually won 12 straight and have not trailed in any one of those games. The reason for their success has been their lethal running attack. Army is averaging over 340 yards per game on the ground and has a defense that is allowing a really stingy 11.25 yards per game. The 5-3 Mean Green have lost 2 straight and even though they can throw the ball the Black Knights defense will hold their ground. Depending on where you do you shopping, the line is currently around Army -3 with a money line of -150. Don’t sweat the points. Consider the Black Knights on the money line.

The Alabama Crimson Tide did not earn the right to be playing the Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl. The Tide got in by reputation alone and the Wolverines will prove that fact when they put the screws to them today in Pasadena.

The Army-Navy game will be played on a neutral field tonight at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. These teams match up well and this should be another close one like they always are. The Black Knights come into this meeting hot winners of their last 3. On the flip side, the Midshipmen have lost 3 of their last 5 and were annihilated by SMU in their last outing, 59-14. The Black Knights average more points per game than the Midshipmen, give up less, and won last year’s meeting, 20-17. The line is currently Army -3 but don’t sweat the number. The Syracuse Orange will look to get back on track tonight when they visit the Virginia Tech Hokies. The 4-3 Orange have lost 3 straight but they were idle last week so coach Babers has had plenty of time to iron out their issues. The 3-4 Hokies were also idle last week and are coming off an impressive 30-13 win over Wake Forest so they will have confidence going into this one. However, the Q can move the ball and are averaging 413 yards per game. They score more the VT, give up less, have won the last two meetings, and are getting 3 points.
