The Boston Bruins snapped their 3-game skid on Saturday with an OT win over the Toronto Maple Leafs so they should have plenty of momentum on their side when they host the bottom feeding Philadelphia Flyers tonight at TD Garden. The Bruins are 4-4-1 overall, 3-2-0 at home, and have had the 2-6-1 Flyers’ number. They have won 7 of the last 8 meetings with the Broad Street Bullies, average more goals per game and give up less.
TONIGHT’S PICK: BOSTON BRUINS
Monday MLB Pick
The New York Yankees find themselves down 0-2 to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the big dance but return home tonight to the Bronx for game 3, game 4 and 5, if necessary. The Yankees should have come out of LA with a split but didn’t. Due to Aaron Boone’s inept managing skills, they are in a hole, but they are not done yet. This is a must win game for the Bombers and they know it and will hold nothing back. Walker Buehler is expected to get the nod for the Dodgers and if Aaron Judge is going to break out of his slump it will be tonight. Since having Tommy John surgery, Buehler is a shadow of his old self. In the regular season, Buehler was a dismal 1-6 with a 5.38 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP. New York is expected to hand the ball to Clarke Schmidt, who was steady in the regular season with a record of 5-5, an excellent ERA of 2.85, and a 1.18 WHIP. The Boys from River Ave. have been down 0-2 in the World Series before and won it. They came back in 1996 against the Atlanta Braves, in 1978 against the LA Dodgers, in 1958 against the Milwaukee Braves, and in 1956 against the Brooklyn Dodgers.
TONIGHT’S PICK: NEW YORK YANKEES
Sunday NFL Pick
The 5-2 Buffalo Bills will be a road favorite today when they head to the Northwest to face the 4-3 Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks, who are just 1-3 over their last 4 games, will have their hands full with Josh Allen and the Bills’ prolific offense. Buffalo is averaging over 28 points per game and now Allen has another weapon in his arsenal, 5-time Pro Bowler Amari Cooper. With just 4 days as a Bill, the former Brown had 4 receptions and a TD last week, and now has a full week of practice under his belt with Allen. Imagine the possibilities. Josh Allen has been as efficient as a quarterback can be. The best in the business has 119 completions with 189 attempts, 12 passing TDs, 3 rushing, no interceptions, and it doesn’t get much better than that. Seattle has surrendered a whopping 121 points over their last 4 games. Allen and company should be licking their chops. Depending on where you do your shopping, the line is currently Buffalo -3 with a money line of only -155. The Bills are the side to consider on the money line.
TODAY’S PICK: BUFFALO BILLS M/L
Saturday NHL Pick
The Winnipeg Jets will have their perfect 7-0 record on the line tonight when they visit the Saddledome to face the 5-1-1 Calgary Flames. The Flames have had the Jets’ number, winning 3 of the last 4 meetings, and are 4-0 in the last 4 against them at home. Winnipeg was lucky to win their last game against the Seattle Kraken and will be wrapping up a 3-game road trip so they ripe for a loss. Calgary is expected to have Dustin Wolf between the pipes. Wolf is 3-0 with a 2.30 GAA and a .936 Sv%. Calgary matches up well with Winnipeg. The Flames are 3-1-0 at home and all good things must come to an end. Consider the home dog tonight.
TONIGHT’S PICK: CALGARY FLAMES
Friday MLB Pick
The World Series kicks off tonight at Chavez Ravine and it’s the matchup the baseball world wanted, the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tonight, in game 1 of the best of 7, two right-handers are expected to get the nod: Gerrit Cole for New York and Jack Flaherty for Los Angeles. Cole has been in this situation many times before so it’s just another day at the office for the Yankee ace. Cole is 1-0 in the postseason with a 3.31 ERA and 12 punchouts over 16.1 innings of work. The Bombers’ heavy hitters should be able to get to Flaherty. He is 1-2 in the postseason with a boated 7.04 ERA with 8 Ks over 15.1 innings of work, and the Yankees 7-0 in their last 7 against a right-handed starter. Expect Cole to have a little extra mustard on his arsenal of pitches tonight. He grew up in So Cal and was always a Yankee fan so this one will mean just a little bit more for the Yankee flamethrower.
TONIGHT’S PICK: NEW YORK YANKEES
Thursday NHL Pick
The New York Rangers return home tonight to MSG and will host the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers. The Rangers are clicking on every cylinder. They have won 4 straight, are 5-0-1 on the season, and 1-0-1 at the Garden. New York has been a scoring machine, averaging over 5 goals per game and allowing an average of just 2. The Champs are 4-3-1, 2-2-0 on the road, and will have their tail between their legs tonight after Tuesday’s 5-1 thumping by the Minnesota Wild in front of their home crowd.
TONIGHT’S PICK: NEW YORK RANGERS
Wednesday NHL Pick
The Philadelphia Flyers and the Washington Capitals will be playing back-to-back games tonight but the venue switches from Wells Fargo Center to Capital One Arena in the nation’s capital. The 4-1-1 Caps cruised to an easy 4-1 victory last night on Broad Street and have now won 4 straight. The Flyers are just 1-4-1 on the season and have lost 5 in a row, and it won’t get any easier tonight. Ivan Fedotov is expected to be between the pipes for Philly and this guy can’t even stop a basketball. He is 0-2 with a bloated 6.00 GAA, a .818 SV%, and that doesn’t bode well for the Flyers when the Capitals are averaging 4 goals per game. Washington is 2-1-0 at home and have won the last 3 meetings with Philly. The current line is Washington -140, which is fishy. It should be higher, but you cannot ignore the fact that the Capitals are the better team, by far, and have the edge in goals scored, goals against, etc., etc., etc.
TONIGHT’S PICK: WASHINGTON CAPITALS
