Two ACC rivals will square off today when the Syracuse Orange visit the Pittsburgh Panthers. Both teams will look to get back on track after losing their last two. The Orange come in at 6-2 and 3-1 in conference play. The Panthers are at 4-4 and just 1-3 in conference play. There is concern on the Syracuse side with starting quarterback Garrett Shrader, who is questionable for today’s matchup after being knocked out of last week’s game with a concussion. The way the Orange can overcome this hurdle, if Shrader doesn’t play, is feed the ball to star running back Sean Tucker who has 758 yards and 7 touchdowns. Syracuse has a stellar pass defense, allowing just 164.5 yards per game, so they should be able to keep Pitt’s quarterback, Kedon Slovis, in check. The Orange are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall where the Panthers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games. The road team is 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings, the Q are currently getting 4, and they are worth considering.

Who would of thought that the Buffalo Sabres would be in 2nd place in the Atlantic in early November? Not many, but they are. The 7-3 Sabres are riding a 3-game winning streak and will head to PNC Arena tonight to face the 7-2-1 Carolina Hurricanes. The Sabres are young, fast, and believe in themselves, and that is a recipe for winning. Buffalo is an impressive 3-1-0 on the road and are averaging 4.3 goals per game. The Canes have owned the Sabres in the past, going 12-1 in the last 13 meetings, but things have changed. Depending on where you shop, the Sabres are around +175 and the Hurricanes will be playing back-to-back games after a grueling battle with the Lightning last night.

The Calgary Flames are on a rare 2-game home losing streak but I expect they will get back on track tonight when they host the Nashville Predators at Scotiabank Saddledome. The 3-6-1 Preds have also lost 2 straight, 7 of their last 8, and are a dismal 1-6 in their last 7 road games. The 5-3-0 Flames are expected to have Jacob Markström between the pipes and he has been outstanding. Markström is 4-1-0 with a 2.60 GAA and a .903 SV%. On the other side, the Predators are expected to have Juuse Saros guarding the net. Saros is 2-5-1 with a 3.17 GAA and a .898 SV%. The Saddledome will be electric as usual and coach Sutter will have his boys ready.

It goes without saying, Philly fans are the most passionate fans in the majors. They will be geared up for this one which will definitely give an edge to Philadelphia. Expected starters will be (R) Noah Syndergaard for the Phillies and (R) Lance McCullers Jr. for the Astros. Thor is 0-0 in the postseason with a 1.69 ERA and a WHIP of just 0.75. McCullers Jr. is also 0-0 in the postseason with a 2.46 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. You have to tip your hat to Philadelphia for getting to where they are. They swept the Cardinals, 2-0, then they took down the Champs, 3-1, and knocked off the Padres, winning that series, 4-1. This team knows they can beat anybody, any day, and that makes them very dangerous. Moreover, the Phillies are 6-0 in their last 6 following a day off, 5-1 in their last 6 following a loss, and 5-0 in their last 5 home games against a right-handed starter.
