Saturday NHL Pick

Two of the league’s best will clash tonight when the Colorado Avalanche host the Calgary Flames. Both teams are coming off losses to inferior clubs, the Avs to the Coyotes and the Flames to the Habs, but obviously they were both looking ahead to tonight’s matchup. The Avalanche own the best record in hockey, at 40-11-4, and have been lethal at Ball Arena, where they are 23-3-2 on the season and 43-8 in the last 51. If that’s not dominance, what is? The 32-14-7 Flames are 17-10-2 on the road and have won 12 of their last 14 but have struggled against the Avs. They are 1-6 in the last 7 meetings and 0-5 in their last 5 as a road dog.
TONIGHT’S PICK: COLORADO AVALANCHE

Friday NHL Pick

The New York Rangers got back on track on Wednesday, with a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Blues, and tonight they will try to keep the ball rolling when they play host to the New Jersey Devils. New York is 34-15-5 on the season, 18-5-3 at MSG, and should have no problem disposing of the Devils tonight in Manhattan. New Jersey is a dismal 19-30-5 and just 8-17-2 on the road, but the line in this one is a little fishy with New York currently at only -165. It should be a lot higher. Nonetheless, the Rangers have dominated the Devils, winning the last 7 meetings, are 10-4 in the last 14 against them at MSG, and are worth considering.
TONIGHT’S PICK: NEW YORK RANGERS

Thursday Men’s NCAA Basketball Pick

The Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons will go for 10 in a row when they host the Illinois-Chicago Flames tonight at Allen County Memorial Coliseum. The Mastodons took care of business against the Flames at the Coliseum back on February 12th, winning 73-66, and tonight should be no different. PFW is 13-2 on their home court and have been a covering machine. The Mastodons are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 as a favorite and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 at home. The Flames are 8-7 on the road where they are averaging 73.3 points per game and that will not be enough against a PFW team that has averaged 83.8 points over their last 5 games.
TONIGHT’S PICK: PURDUE FORT WAYNE MASTODONS -6

Wednesday NHL Pick

After losing 2 straight, the New York Rangers will look to get back on track tonight when they host the surging St. Louis Blues. St. Louis has won 4 in a row and 6 of their last 7 but keep in mind, 5 of those wins were against some of the worse teams in hockey: Chicago (twice), Buffalo, Philadelphia, and Ottawa, with their loss coming against the lowly Montréal Canadiens. Not impressed. New York is a dominant 17-5-3 at MSG and are expected to have Igor Shesterkin between the pipes, and who is better at guarding the cage than him? Shesterkin is 25-6-3, with a GAA of only 1.95, and a SV% of .941. New York gets back on track tonight.
TONIGHT’S PICK: NEW YORK RANGERS

Tuesday Men’s NCAA Basketball Pick

Two of the top teams in the MAC will square off tonight when the #1 Toledo Rockets head to Western New York to face the #4 Buffalo Bulls. The Bulls are smoking hot, ripping off 9 straight wins, and have been dominant at Alumni Arena where they are 9-2 and can light it up. They are averaging 83.4 points per game at home while allowing an average of 67.9. The Rockets come into tonight’s game with an 8-5 road record, where they are averaging 78.8 points per game while allowing 70.3; advantage Bulls. Buffalo fell to Toledo on January 25th in Toledo, 86-75, but now it’s on their turf and they have something to prove. The Bulls are laying 2 with a money line of -135, so you know what to do.
TONIGHT’S PICK: BUFFALO BULLS M/L

Monday Men’s NCAA Basketball Pick

The Fordham Rams will be at home in the Bronx tonight to take on the UMass Minutemen. The Minutemen have not been getting it done on the road, with a record of 2-7, where they are averaging 70.2 points per game and allowing 80.3. The Rams have been solid at Rose Hill Gymnasium, where they are 8-4, averaging 67.9 points per game but allowing just 64.0.Fordham’s D will be the difference maker in this one. Depending on where you shop, the line is currently Fordham -2 but with a M/L of only -130, why would you sweat the points?
TONIGHT’S PICK: FORDHAM RAMS M/L

Sunday NHL Pick

The Anaheim Ducks are loaded with young talent and that will be on display tonight when they host the New York Islanders. New York will be playing back-to-back games after losing to the LA Kings yesterday, 5-2, and have not fared well against Anaheim. The Isles are just 1-5 in the last 6 meetings with the Ducks and 3-7 in their last 10 at the Pond. At 25-20-9 on the season, Anaheim is still in a playoff hunt. Expect them to come out swinging tonight against a team they know they can beat.
TONIGHT’S PICK: ANAHEIM DUCKS
