Wednesday NCAA Men’s Basketball Pick

The Nevada Wolf Pack are a perfect 6-0 at home and will look to make it 7 when they play host to the San Diego Aztecs in a late one tonight at Lawlor Events Center. Nevada averages 81.0 points per game at home and surrenders an average of 64.8. The Aztecs are 0-3 on the road, averaging just 59.7 points and allowing an average of 70.0. The Pack lost to Fresno State on Saturday but they don’t dwell on losses, going 10-1 ATS in their last 11, following a straight up defeat. The Aztecs have beaten the Pack in the last 7 contests but I see that trend ending tonight. I’ll take the Pack and the money line in this one.

Tonight’s pick:

Nevada Wolf Pack M/L

Tuesday NHL Pick

Auston Mathews and the Toronto Maple Leafs are red hot, winners of their last 5, and will try to make it 6 when they travel to DC tonight to take on Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. Toronto was the winner in the last contest between these two clubs on November 26th, 4-2, but that was on their home ice. They are not the Leafs of old, but they have struggled in Washington, going 5-16 in their last 21 and they are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings with the Caps. Ovechkin is a Toronto killer; in 40 games he has found the net 32 times and notched 58 points. I like Washington in this situation.

Tonight’s pick:

Washington Capitals

Monday NCAA Men’s Basketball Pick

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will have their work cut out for them tonight when they take their 0-5 road record to San Marcos, Texas to take on the Texas State Bobcats. The Bobcats are 5-1 at home on the season, averaging 70 points per game on their home court and allowing an average of 64. The Chanticleers are averaging 66.6 points per game on the road and allowing an average of 88.8. Texas State is 8-1 ATS in their last 9 against the Sun Belt, and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 overall. I’ll take the Bobcats in this one on the money line.

Tonight’s pick:

Texas State Bobcats M/L

Sunday NCAA Men’s Basketball Pick

I like the Evansville Purple Aces chances for a victory today at home over the Northern Iowa Panthers. The Purple Aces are ranked 100th in offensive field goal percentage shooting and are 8-0 at home, averaging 75.8 points per game and allowing 60. The Panthers come into this game ranked 324th in offensive field goal percentage shooting and are 0-3 on the road, averaging 52.3 points per game and holding teams to 76.7. The Purple Aces have the edge in every category except free throws and turn overs.

Today’s pick:

Evansville Purple Aces -2

Saturday NHL Pick

The Washington Capitals lost in a shootout Thursday 2-1, to the New Jersey Devils but they can even the score when these two clubs meet up in Newark in an early one today. Washington is 4-0 in their last 4 at Prudential Center and 7-1 in the last 8 meetings. Braden Holtby is expected between the pipes for the Caps. Holtby is 15-8-4, with a GAA of 2.02, and a .928 SV%. Keith Kinkaid is the confirmed goalie for the Devils. Kinkaid is 4-3-2, with a GAA of 2.49, and a .930 SV%. The Caps have the edge in every category: offense, defense, power plays, penalty kill, face offs, discipline and goaltending. With a road record of 8-4-1-3, I like the Caps in this one.

Today’s pick:

Washington Capitals

Friday NCAA Men’s Football Pick

The Stanford Cardinals and the North Carolina Tar Heels will meet up in an early one today in El Paso, TX. I like the Tar Heels chances in this one due to their explosive offense which is run by its junior QB Mitch Trubisky. Trubisky threw for 3,468 yards, completing 69% of his passes with 28 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions. Stanford’s star RB Christian McCaffrey, who led the nation with 2,327 all-purpose yards and 1,603 rushing yards, announced that he will sit out the Sun Bowl to prepare for the NFL draft. I’ll take the 3 points here and North Carolina.

Today’s pick:

North Carolina Tar Heels +3

Thursday NCAA Men’s Basketball Pick

The Western Illinois Leathernecks will take their 1-5 road record to Fort Wayne tonight to face the IPFW Mastodons. The Mastodons are a perfect 7-0 at home, averaging 85.8 points per game in Fort Wayne and allowing an average of 66.4. On the road, the Leathernecks are averaging 61.0 points per game and allowing 72.3. The Mastodons are ranked 30th in offensive field goal percentage as opposed to the Leathernecks who are ranked 300th. The Leathernecks are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games, 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 meetings with the Mastodons. If IPFW wants to cover the 14 points, they will.

Tonight’s pick:

IPFW Mastodons -14
