Reds and Mets came through yesterday in two close ones.
Today I like the Phillies as a +165 dog. Phillies have lost 3 straight but O’Sullivan is a quality pitcher. I think they eke this one out in Queens today.
Today’s pick:
Philadelphia Phillies

Good win by the Jays yesterday. They love Memorial Day! That gives them six straight wins now on that special day.
Today I’m laying off of the Jays. I don’t trust the knuckler Dickey. I’m jumping on the Mets at home with deGrom. Over his last 3 starts, his ERA is 2.37 with a WHIP of 0.84. On the other side, Williams has an ERA of 6.00 with a WHIP of 1.60. Philadelphia is 7-23 over the last 30 against the Mets. Mets play well at home: 20-6 over their last 26.
I’m also taking the Reds at home against the Rockies. They lost nine straight and are in their worst slump since 1998. Look for them to bust out of it tonight with a quality starter in Lorenzen. This morning William Hill listed De La Rosa as pitcher for the Rockies but are now showing Rusin. Keep an eye on it.
Today’s picks:
New York Mets
Cincinnati Reds
Let’s stay north of the border with Toronto. They’ve won 5 consecutive games on Memorial Day and have averaged 7.8 runs in these games. Hutchinson is pitching with an ERA of 3.57 and a WHIP of 1.25 over his last 3 starts. When he pitches, the Jays average 9.5 runs per game. Noesi’s last 3 starts gave him an ERA of 6.94. Toronto has the edge in starting pitching, bullpen, hitting, power, speed and defense. Reyes should be activated today from Buffalo and should start at short. Joey “Bats” Bautista had a cortisone shot in his shoulder and is questionable, but I think he’ll play.
Update: Looks like Joey Bats is out for the day but I’m standing by my pick and still running with Toronto.
Today’s pick:
Toronto Blue Jays
Toronto is playing at home today. After losing 2 straight, they should pick up the win. Sanchez’s ERA is 4.17 against Walker, who is 1-4 within an ERA of 7.47. Reyes is still in rehab at minors in Buffalo and Joey Bats is out but they should still pull it off.
Today’s pick:
Toronto Blue Jays
Close one with the Yankees yesterday – they almost pulled it out.
For whatever reason, I like these teams on a lottery ticket. No stats needed today.
Today’s picks:
Atlanta Braves
Toronto Blue Jays
Philadelphia Phillies
New York Mets
New York Yankees
Atlanta came through last night with a 10-1 trouncing of the Brewers. Brewers are now 3-13 in their last 16 games in Atlanta. Friday games don’t fare well for them either. They are 1-7 in their last 8. Atlanta is 24-11 in their last 35 Friday games. Wood is a quality pitcher for Atlanta with an ERA of 3.50 over his last 3 outings and Peralta has an ERA of 4.32 for his last 3 outings. Pitching stats are close but Atlanta is also getting hot so I’m running with them until they cool down.
By the way, William Hill pulled the Braves game off of the book which may be related to the 8-game suspension for Brewers’ left-handed pitcher Smith. Brewers are probably making some adjustments. Keep an eye on this one.
It turns out that Woods was pulled because of a stomach virus so Stults is replacing him with a 1-4 record and ERA of 5.36. I’m laying off on this one.
Also, I like the Yankees at home in the Bronx tonight. They have lost 3 straight and Pineda has been stellar this year. Yankees have the edge in starting pitching, bullpen, hitting, power, defense and bench. They should end their 3 game skid tonight.
Today’s pick:
New York Yankees
I won both games yesterday with the Royals and Tigers winning convincingly. Today I’m looking at Atlanta to win at home with Julio Theran on the bump. Theran’s ERA over his last three games is 3.78 and Matt Garza’s for the Brewers ERA over his last three games is 7.71. The Brewers are 3-12 in their last 15 games in Atlanta. Atlanta has the edge in starting pitching, hitting, speed, defense and bench. Brewers have the edge in power.
Today’s pick:
Atlanta Braves
