The New York Yankees lost game 1 of their 3-game set with the Baltimore Orioles yesterday. Today they bounce back at the Yard. Cole Irvin is expected to be on the hill for the O’s and he is a southpaw which is perfect for the Yankees’ lethal right-handed hitters.

The Minnesota Twins will be hosting the Houston Astros today in their home opener at Target Field. The Astros are 4-0 in their last 4 in Minnesota but the Twins are expected to have Sonny Gray on the hill. Gray was lights out in his last start against Kansas City and he will keep this game tight. The Twins on opening day, with Sonny on the hill, is worth considering.

The Atlanta Braves will be hosting the San Diego Padres tonight. Left-hander Blake Snell is expected to be on the bump for the Friars and he did not look good in his first outing. The Braves can smack the ball and will get to him tonight.

Jhony Brito will be making his major league debut today for the New York Yankees as they go for a series win over the San Francisco Giants in the Bronx. Briton had a great spring, has electric stuff and is a true major leaguer. The Giants will counter with Ross Stripling and he has not fared well against the Bombers. Stripling is 0-5 in his career against the Yanks with a 4.55 ERA. New York should get this one.

The Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles will resume their 3-game set this afternoon at Fenway. The Red Sox lost the opener in a wild one on Thursday and will look to even the score today when they send their ace, southpaw Chris Sale, to the hill. Sale was sidelined for most of last year due to injury but when he is healthy there is no one better on the planet. The Condor is 100% healthy, ready to go, and has dominated Baltimore in his career, going 10-3 with a 2.71 ERA. Baltimore is expected to counter with Dean Kremer. Kremer was 8-7 in 2022 with a 3.23 ERA and is 0-4 in his carrer against the Red Sox with a bloated ERA of 6.85. The Orioles are 0-5 in their last 5 against a left-handed starter and with a guy like Sale on the hill, that is not good.
