Thursday NHL Pick

The Buffalo Sabres have lost 4 in a row and now trail the Toronto Maple Leafs by 6 points for the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. One of Buffalo’s losses was to the Arizona Coyotes on Sunday in Arizona, but tonight they can avenge that loss when they host the Coyotes at Key Bank Center. Arizona has been awful on the road, at 8-19-4-0, and are 3-10 in their last 13 meetings with the Sabres. The Sabres backs are against the wall, they cannot afford to lose this game and they know it. Look for Sabres leading scorer Evander Kane (with 22 goals) and young phenom Jack Eichel to get things turned around tonight.

Tonight’s pick:

Buffalo Sabres

Tuesday NHL Pick

The Toronto Maple Leafs have lost two in a row and it won’t get any easier for them when they open a 3-game West Coast stint in San Jose tonight. The Leafs have struggled miserably against the Sharks, going 1-12 in the last 13 meetings, and 1-5 in their last 6 at SAP Center. The Sharks are expected to have Martin Jones between the pipes and he is 29-15-6, with a GAA of 2.31, and a .915 SV%. Toronto should counter with Frederik Andersen, who is 24-13-12, with a GAA of 2.77, a .914 SV% and he’s 2-6-1 lifetime against San Jose. Toronto did bolster their offense by signing veteran center Brian Boyle but I don’t see that helping them tonight.

Tonight’s pick:

San Jose Sharks

Thursday NHL Pick

The Montréal Canadiens look like a good play tonight. The Habs will be at home facing the New York Islanders, a team they have beaten 8 out of the last 10 meetings. Couple that with Carey Price who is expected between the pipes for the Canadiens and it should result in a win.

Tonight’s pick:

Montréal Canadiens

Wednesday NHL Pick

The Boston Bruins have been red hot, winning four in a row but that should come to an end tonight when they make a trip to Honda Center to take on the Anaheim Ducks. Boston has struggled against Anaheim, going 0-6 in their last 6 meetings and 1-5 in their last 6 at Honda Center. I’ll take Anaheim in this one.

Tonight’s pick:

Anaheim Ducks

Monday NHL Pick

The Anaheim Ducks will be in Glendale tonight to take on a team they have dominated, the Arizona Coyotes. The Ducks are 5-0 in the last 5 meetings against the Coyotes and 4-1 in their last 5 visits to Gila River Arena. The last time these two clubs faced each other was in Arizona on January 14th and Anaheim posted a 3-0 shutout. I like the Ducks chances tonight.

Tonight’s pick:

Anaheim Ducks

Friday NHL Pick

The situation looks good tonight for the Columbus Blue Jackets to notch a home victory when they play host to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins legs should be weary after last night’s 4-3 overtime win against the Winnipeg Jets. Columbus has had a day off to rest after knocking off Toronto 5-2 on Wednesday, so they should be fresh. Pittsburgh was drilled in their last visit to Columbus, 7-1, on December 22nd and they are 1-4 in their last 5 visits to Nationwide Arena.

Tonight’s pick:

Columbus Blue Jackets

Sunday NHL Pick

The San Jose Sharks take care of business today and will snap their 4-game losing streak when they travel to Newark to take on the New Jersey Devils in an early one. The Sharks are 6-2 in their last 8 meetings with the Devils, and 4-0 in their last 4 visits to Prudential Center. The Sharks get this one.

Today’s pick:

San Jose Sharks
