The New York Islanders can clinch 3rd place in the Metropolitan division with a win at home tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers already know they’re going to Washington next, so this game is meaningless to them. Philadelphia is 1-4 in their last 5 in New York. Home teams are 8-3 in their last 11 overall. Thomas Greiss is expected between the pipes tonight for New York and he’s 14-4-3 at Barclays Center. Philadelphia is probably going to rest Steve Mason and put in the former Islander goalie, Michal Newvirth. If Islanders win tonight, they’ll face Pittsburgh next and if they lose, they’ll face Florida. The question is who they would rather face? Islanders are going to Pittsburgh.

With a 10th win tonight, they can clinch a playoff berth. Lundqvist is between the pipes tonight for New York. His record has been spectacular against Carolina, going 23-9-1. I like the Rangers tonight.

The Florida Panthers are on a quest to clinch back-to-back Atlantic division titles and they’ll get one step closer tonight when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs have trouble with the Panthers, going 1-7 in their last 8 meetings overall, and 1-4 in their last 5 in Florida. Toronto is playing back-to-back games tonight so I see Florida coasting to a win.

The Anaheim Ducks finish their 5-game Canadian road trip tonight when they travel to Edmonton to take on the Oilers. Anaheim has totally dominated Edmonton, going 24-5 in their last 29 overall and 17-4 in their last 21 in Edmonton. The Ducks will win tonight.

Anaheim continues their 5-game Canadian road trip, traveling to Ottawa to take on the Senators. These 2 clubs clashed on January 13th and the Ducks prevailed, 4-1. The Ducks have been dominant over the Senators, going 7-2-1 over their last 10. So far this road trip has not been favorable for the Ducks but I think they’ll right the ship today.
